thats not what LOD does. you will still be able to see player models and terrain features even at very long distances. someone just classified that box as "loot" or something on the occlusion settings and works as if its loot in low LOD. No setting on the player side should be able to hide or show terrain features.

@@aris67simos Maybe the classification thing is correct, but I've literally sat on shoreline and messed with the LOD setting and see the effects of objects disappearing based on the value of that setting. I agree it shouldn't be something that a player can change and should be the same for every player but currently it's not. That's what I was saying originally.

Even with it stationary its fun to shoot the m2 lol! I can believe he told someone to get a 2011 pistol. They arent that great and have a ton of issues still. A 1911 would be by far better and with far fewer issues.

M855 is called cheater ammo for a reason, one bullet goes through the level 3 aramid and one taps you in the neck. There are no throat armor plates.

Gamers understand that 99% of the games they buy don't have this problem, lol. When you sell them something that's substandard at a premium price people get mad. Making a building that's level in plumb is also difficult but that doesn't mean you should be happy living in the leaning tower of pisa.

@@Jake-bt3fc 99% of games also don't have maps with nearly as much detail as Tarkov. If you think Tarkov is substandard because of some culling issues that happen occasionally then you have some insane standards. There's barely any other game out there that comes close to the level of detail BSG puts into their environments. Other than AAA games and even then most of those don't even come close unless it's a on-rails linear game. Not only that but most games aren't using an old 2019 version of Unity. Issues like this may get fixed just with an update to the newer version that they'll be doing soon(ish?). Most likely a lot of the culling issues is an engine issue with the way Unity handles occlusion culling.

@@xistam Tarkov is not top 1% for map complexity, lol. There are plany of maps with props and junk all over the place. I'm sure that box was just _so complicated_ it couldn't help but be culled while a player is 20 feet away staring straight at it with nothing between the player and the box, lol.

Also, AGAIN, it could be an engine issue, you just ignored that part of my comment. I was dealing with an issue recently on something I made in Unity where something kept culling despite being visible and within my view. Unity also has a back-end culling system separate from occlusion culling that is built into the the engine and works automatically called frustum culling. And yes Tarkov is definitely up there with complexity, not exactly 1% obviously, you ever hear of the word hyperbole? The same thing you used in your first comment? Idk why people like you need to act the way you do. You clearly have never worked in a game engine and have no idea about how this stuff works, yet you will fight your side despite how ridiculous you sound to someone that does know what they're talking about. This is why game devs hate talking to gamers, bunch of stuck up know it all man-childs that have never touched a game engine in their life.

Not only that but unity has another form of culling called frustum culling which is done automatically through the back-end of the engine. Which was why I said this could be an engine issue too, which you seemingly ignored. Also good job taking hyperbole literally after using hyperbole yourself in your first comment. I don't get why people like you act like this. You get told how something works and you give a sarcastic response in return and try twisting what I said into whatever the hell you want. This is why game devs hate talking to gamers and don't bother to explain why issues happen. I had an issue exactly like this with a Unity map I was working on, object was completely in view yet it was getting culled. Continued to get culled even after disabling occlusion culling and leaving it as a dynamic object rather than static. Which led me to find out about frustum culling. But whatever man, you're clearly not the type to try and understand anything. You'd rather argue and twist what people say.
