Man I must be different than everyone else first summit I got I was so excited. After about 5 hunts I sold it bc it was the worst stand I’ve ever used/ sat in
@@justinrichey8937I agree, summits suck! The first time I ever hunted out of one was in northern Maine during the last week of rifle(thanksgiving week) with around 18 inches of snow on the ground and the trees were frozen with actual ice formed on the bark. I got to my hunting height and was standing there organizing things and I slipped straight down around 8 inches. I about crapped myself! That was the last time I ever used a summit, I’ve been hunting out of my lone wolf or tree walker, they both will not slip and dig into the tree, even through ice!
@Slickheadhunter of course why would you climb with ice covering the tree. Anyone who has had a summit fail or they fell out, A they weren't using it properly, b didn't check cables before ea use as clearly states. I'm a fan of these guys but an open shot is only 3 or 4lbs heavier at 15lbs and a 2/3rds cheaper. I can buy 3 summits an open shot a viper and a Goliath for the price of one of their climbers
1000$ plus shipping??? There crazy . I seen this Stand at a expo last week and it’s got a lot of Unnecessary crap made onto it like some kind of transformer stand and where the seat is I’m 6 foot to 250 there is no room and the stand flex’s a lot..go with a summit 💯
@@glasstactical3566a summit is light enough, way more quiet, and less trouble. 100%. Stop shilling a company that doesn’t care enough about the their customers to charge a reasonable price! You’re a sucker if you co-sign these narcissist
That seat would suck after about two hours. They should offer a Hazmore mesh seat. That would still push back if you needed to stand against the tree. $1000? Wow. I’ve killed a lot of deer from my $260 Viper SD. All day comfort with the Hazmore seat.
Excellent video/s. Thank you very much, very very helpful. I PREordered without knowing the entire story, but this will help everyone else still undecided. Can't wait to see the finished stand once it arrives at my house in a couple months!
$1000 for a climber really don’t fit a everyday hunter, have $300 summits that I have had for 15 yrs with no issues, and the same stand today with upgrades has only went to $350
I have the Assault Climber and it is absolutely excellent for mobile public land hunting. Half of it can be used with a saddle for an ultralight setup.
I have the original Lone Wolf Alfa Climber plus the hand climber. I only used it as a sit & climb. It's heads & shoulders the best climber on the market until y'all revamped this new design 👍🏻🦌🏹🇺🇸
Definitely would love to give it a try but for that price I’d never be able to I’ll have to stick to my old lw hand climber I will say this new age saddle style is nice and does work but I’m still 100% climber and will definitely promote tho it is becoming a thing of the past for most hunters
With the older climbers if I’m half way up and my buttom part get tilt down or up I just sit to the buttom part I tighten straps then my foots lift up and loosen the belt clamps loosen belt or tighten it
Other than the steep price, this is an ideal platform. I modified my lonewolf to my liking and its been great. I use a hazmore webbed seat and was able to get a lot of platform space. If they could make a kit to update the older platform i would be interested.
Haven't used my climber since i bought a saddle. I can get into trees with my saddle that a climber cannot. Most importantly all my gear, hunting suit and saddle all fits in my mountain pack. Looks like a nice product for sure. Im not a sitter so i stood in my climber, using the tree as cover. Comfort comparison? Sitting in a climber is unrivaled. Standing in a climber to me is about the same as standing on a foot platform while using a saddle. I am a public land hunter so weight definitely matters. Typically a 30 minute walk in and out. And he is correct, you learn to get that pitch right 90% of the time. A saddle has pinch points. My first 6 hour sit i killed the face of my left hip for almost a week😂. I was legit getting worried. Now i just reach down and feel my skin and make sure its not numb. Rotate a little on the bridge and let that blood flow. Looks like a nice product. Dont leave your climber in the woods yall. They aren't made to endure the weather.
The saddles are trendy right now but Im sticking with my climber..Just looks like to much movement in the tree with a saddle..I do all day sits and Im not sure thats possible with a saddle..That said I think the saddle would be great for long hauls in the woods for shorter sits.. How are you liking the saddle?
I sat all day today. I was never a sitter with my climber so I'm used to the struggle. But IMO nothing is more comfortable than sitting in a climber. Moving in a saddle is real, I got busted a few times because of movement my first year with it. The one advantage is the ability to utilize trees that you cannot with a climber. Now I've done some sketchy stuff getting past a limb with my clinber. But I'm not gonna lie, my feet hurt after long sits. The foot platform is unforgiving. A few days in a row is tough on my back. I use it because I'm a mile plus deep typically and I can get in any tree. You definitely are trading some comfort for that benefit.
Great demonstration but I’ll have to pass. Being a 250+ guy that isn’t narrow, this seems like it’ll be very uncomfortable for me and the process is a huge deal breaker as well. Looks great though and power to those who get it and like it
I dream of Rivers Edge Tree Stands still making their climbers with the aluminum back grab bar. Not an unreliable, adjustable rubber strap!! That back blade DUG into every tree. - I still have the original hanging in my garage. Waiting to pay a fabricator to make a "replica".
Oh well probably going to cost me some money now. Been using my sit and climb for over 20 years and still love it but to lose 10 pounds of stand weight is epic.
Does the bar raise up higher to use as a gun/x bow rest or will the larger version have that option? I use an ultra light summit viper elite sd (16lbs) but I feel so unsafe climbing up and down with it due to those cables.
Not a fan of all the clanking at the beginning of the video. Dont like all the strPs hanging once on the tree. I do like how companies are keeping thier minds open to innovation!
I had the XOP hand climber, I believe designed by the same guy/company. When putting weight on the top portion to climb down, the square tubing exploded in three pieces. I hit on my back from 18 feet. It didn't fail because a bolt was loose, or a bolt came out, or any maintenance wasn't done. The metal tube broke. Noone, including people still buying these stands would ever think the square metal tubing could possibly just break. It did.
@@gordonneverdies Yes. Only due to a miracle from our Creator. I hit on my back, stood up and walked 500 yards to my truck. Got CT scans from head to knees and nothing wrong other than pelvic muscles sore. Absolute miracle.
Sorry to hear that. Glad you’re ok. But please please wear a safety harness from the time you start climbing to the time your foot touches the ground from climbing down!
I’m from NH and all our trees are straight(mostly) and I can’t for the life of me understand why anyone would hunt out of a fixed stand with sticks or a saddle, a friend of mine does and I watched him set his stand one day…..what a pain in the a$$. I literally could be up the tree and hunting in about three minutes. I once set a hang on in a hemlock way back in 2000, after that fiasco I never used one again!
@@SaddlehntrYes, they had one at an Archery Show they attended in Indianapolis early this year and were hoping to get it out yet this year. Since then I’ve seen nothing about it. At that time it did not have a name. It is what you would expect. Size wise similar to some of the modified LWCG hand portion of their Assault climbers, as seen on RU-vid.)
Good question, from what I understand it’s being produced in a small batch and limited quantities. The climber would be sold as a kit only. It would be nice if you could buy the bottom only and just run it with a saddle
The knobs on the seat should have been moved to the outside of the stand that’s a accident waiting to happen when the knobs catch your jacket or shirt while you try to stand up and take a shot or stand up to get ready to start climbing back down
Ya it’s hard to beat a tree stand and sticks that can get you into any tree. Just depends on the situation, if you have the straight tree without limbs it could be a pretty sweet kit
No one noticed the top portion has the belt on backwards? Hahahhha 1000$ for this is a joke. My 400$ original hand climber has worked flawless for me for over 10 years.
It just looks too small and compact like there’s no room to move around! Absolutely over priced for $1000! I’m going to stick with my summit, lots of room feels really safe works on larger diameter trees and the only downfall is at 20 pounds It’s heavy!
@@bruceallen6377 I'm not much for climbers anyway finding a straight tree that has no cover. Hard to do and why. Sticks let you go around branches and have cover after that hand on or saddle with a ring or platform.
@@robertlocke7711 climber is lighter, quicker, quieter. I can be up my tree and strapped in within a couple min. Iv never once had an issues sitting in a limbless tree. Just sit a little higher. I hunt low density dpsm and lots of pressure. I don’t have any issues. Buy some Sitka and sit still
Just get a saddle and stick everybody. This is absolutely 15 years late. No offense to anybody but climbers are the most dangerous way to tree hunt. So many young men died in the 90s using climbers.
So let me get this straight. You design and build a $1000 stand that you yourself cant use since it only has a 250 lb weight limit??? 🤦🤦🤦 Your website is murica murica murica 🇺🇸🇺🇲🇺🇸🇺🇲🇺🇸 but you build a stand to fit a someone from china 🙄
As most people don't weigh all the crap they bring with them.. backpack, clothes, bow or gun, etc someone 225 could EASILY be over 250 and exceed the limit. Most people only thing. How much do "I " weigh , not how much do I and all my "crap" weigh
Buddy of mine just bought three of the new tethered hang on sticks, they are like 12oz per stick. Fuck a climber. Why carry 15 pounds when you can carry 5 pounds instead.
