Wee lassie. I'm from Glasgow, now in the Midwest US. Your impressions are a beacon for me. All of it, really. I was born in the 50's and have battled depression me entire life. Albeit successfully, but it's been a struggle at times. Crippling panic attacks, resulting agoraphobia. We, I, us, we need you. You'll never know how much you've touched all of us, your fans. Ye are a bonny wee lassie with a neon smile. Love You, Melissa. 🍀🌹🍀
I am so proud of you. Way to stick with it and follow your dreams. I love and appreciate how accessible you are to me (us), on RU-vid. You are an old soul. I struggle with mental health and you are so relatable. You are literally one of my favorite people. Don't change you for anyone. Nothing but love and respect Melissa 💜🇨🇦
As Jim Carrey once said and I'm paraphrasing, "comedy is to free people of concern." This podcast and your music have been pleasant companions during long work drives, but I never thought I'd need them like I do now. My father was caught in a 2 year affair and left us this past week to be with his secret girlfriend 2 years younger than my 26 year old self. Having this positive distraction means more than I can express. Thank you for your work.
You are admirable. I wish I had your contentment with myself at your age. I am nearing that place twenty years later. I have always enjoyed your comedy, but I really appreciate your resolve at such a young age. Be proud of yourself.
In full support of the 15 seconds of visual tragedy when the 'oh no' tiktok song plays. Great impersonation of it, great visual of the proposed tiktok. Laughed out loud.
I've seen her in J.C. Penny commercials and it's a perfect fit. (They're well done and not goofy) I thought she'd go right to Broadway if she left SNL her voice is so good and her acting chops so honed. But someone is going to peel away the layers and put her in something lightly dramatic to start and then the gates are open... I feel the same way about Cecily Strong.
I can't wait to start doing Stand Up Comedy again! I have a bunch of original Thanksgiving day and food related jokes lined up for this Tuesday! 😃 I doubt that I will kill them but it should still be very very entertaining! "I guarantee THAT!!" Thanks for sharing with us again! 😃
Love this woman, first time I heard her sing knew right away what a talent!SNL are idiots for letting this one go what a loss, your talent is greatly appreciated and you make this 60yr old man laugh all the time.Thank you,in a sea of mediocrity you are an island oasis.
Greetings from Iceland. Thank you for your (in my eyes) significant contribution to comedy over the years (where SNL was a significant milestone, but I enjoyed it here on RU-vid before that). Thank you also for this show. It feels kind of like the nice, friendly conversations I used to have with an on/off campus flatmate of mine. She´s a funny doctoral student from California, living in Denmark, who intermittently had to set up, fix or take down instruments for her research the last few years in a recent hot spring area in a forest on the gardening/forestry school grounds where I study (and also work during the summer holidays). She´s finished her project here by now. She was funny, likable and easygoing like you come across. She has her faults as we all do, of course. But I feel that people´s talents and positive traits (as many and magnificent as they can be) are less important in any type of relationship, than being able to let the faults line up in a way that they don´t crash into each other, or turn a yellow flag into a red flag. Does that make sense? I´m probably wrong, since I don´t know what I´m talking about and this is just a lot of air. I´m a middle aged adhd autistic who´s still figuring out how far off I´ve been in communication thoughout my life. I´m glad to hear you try to take care of your health any way you can. For a few months last winter I tried W*llbutrin (like it sounds you have done), as it seems to work for a bunch of people. It turned me inside out. I usually implode, so people weren´t so bothered by my anguish before, but that same level of turmoil turned outwards did a lot of damage to my nearest and dearest (No crimes committed, but plenty of hurtful moments). I was lucky enough that a close friend spoke earnestly about it with me, made me realize what was going on. I hope you´ve got someone like that, who´ll call you out on difficult behavior if you go down that road. Follow the advice of your healthcare provider, but take care to listen to people with similar issues as you etc. You most likely know that already. I myself will have to use the brightness from the still burning bridges behind me to light my way in the near future. Again, thanks for the show, it feels like a hug and a conversation with a friend. Best of luck in all your endeavours.
Yes, I will buy your book, on a list of about 5. Recipes from the Titanic, Sona Movsesian's Worst Assistant, Matty Matheson's The Art of Cookery, bunch of Townsends stuff.
Just wanted to say... MV(P) I have been supporting you since my call in years ago to vote you UP on AGT!! Meliss, I LOVE the Sims too, was there through that... there through TODAY! You are a GEM of light, and you make me happy, the thought of you brings me joy. Just like a little firefly, I'll always be around you (ha) and NEED to order your book. Love you MV
love the wet burritos and the fire works after ,lol. great work , i to have mental health from just being alone and lonely. i can go to work , and be a rock star . but alone im so afraid.
OMG.. I absolutely LOVE wet burritos. I didn't even know they were called wet burritos. There is a place near here that always served them on a plate smothered in sauce and they were always my absolute favorite. So I learned something tonight. Unfortunately here it is after mid-night and now I am hankering hard for a wet burrito!!!!!!! :-)
For true Mexican burrito hell nah. For the giant bohemoth of an American burrito ? Totally necessary. Us puts rice and usually not the best cooked steak in there. It’s it’s not dry it has way to much guac and sour cream and it’s gross. Wet burritos are the ultimate American Mexican meal.
35 yo here, lost my job due to big mental health issues and i’m still struggling - a lot of what you said resonates with me. you’re so strong and i’m so proud of you for putting out a whole freaking book!!!!!!!! i hope your tour continues to be amazing
I wondered for about a year-and-a-half why a Quinceanera sketch wasn't pursued on SNL. A fresh topic with room for comedic exaggeration. I might understand now.
I bought yer books fer me daughters chum. One of me daughters says you're her favorite SNL comedian. The other two daughters say....'meh. she's okay.' And thats why we have favorite kids.
Hey Melissa, I stumbled across you and your work recently. Awesome talent! I think it's super courageous of you to "put yourself out there". I can only imagine the anxiety and fear going if front of a crowd not knowing if things will click. I take Paxil and Wellbutrin and know how tough things can get at times. Your voice, it's beauty and range, is entrancing. BTW, the rest of you is wicked hot too! If you come to Boston and could use a "date" I would take you on a mini-tour of the best chow in town and hit a couple of genuine BeanTown spots. BTW can you do a Boston Southie accent? Would love to hear your rendition. Take care Melissa
Ordered your book, looking forward to reading it! As far as the “go back” comments, well, living in the rear view mirror is easy for others to preach such nonsense...and always unproductive. Keep up the tour dates, and as a suggestion, put a link to your new book!
oye Melissa, have you been to Burritos La Palma? I go to the one in Santa Ana when I visit my primos in Anaheim. It's the closest we get the birria burritos from my mom's hometown in Zacatecas (same family/recipe). They have a few other locations. Check them out.
I do the same thing for Halloween. I never go for sexy. I do silly mostly. Ive been La India Maria, El Chavo del 8, Mario from Mario Bros. I love it! Its more me!
Great show at the Den Theatre! My brother and I really enjoyed your set. I wanted to give you my business card (I'm a licensed mental health counselor), but tact (and fear) got the best of me.
I’m confused about the Halloween timing?? Was this already posted out of order? BTW Is that you dancing & singing in the JC Penny’s commercials? Would you ever Livestream one of your comedy performances??? Miss you every Saturday night!!!
Those instagram comments that show up right away with a lot of likes are just spam accounts, not real. I like how the Mean Meliss bit is a hit with the audiences haha. Also I like your artwork and how each one has meaning behind it.
I'm sorry, but until you have had San Diego's Baja Mexicano wet burritos.... BTW, LA is considered Central California if you live in SD. (P.S. San Diego is only 2 hrs south, and there's a CalCoaster AmTrak train straight to downtown LA if you go to interviews for Hollywood stuff).
What’s a wet burrito? Living here in Miami there isn’t very much good Mexican food except maybe at the San angel inn in the Epcot Mexican pavilion. Which places do you like to go in Los Angeles ?
@@gcord21 sounds like something that would also be good in New Mexico - I have a friend who used to live in Albuquerque who said EVERYTHING you order there comes with a choice of red or green Chile sauce
@Andrew Veghte I live in Southern California and they don't offer that here unless you specifically request it. Everything food item in red or green sauce sounds good though, haha.
