Good for you tackling an engine rebuild. I would love to try such a feat, but would never. So much knowledge I don't have is required. Glad yours came out alright..

I am watching an A&P do this at our airport, he has an overhaul manual from Lycoming were you are literally checking off the assembly steps as you go. Thanks for the video, your project looks great!
Never leave any crank laying on its side. Always stand up ... could warp Also make sure your torque wrench is calibrated and follow torque specs whether wet or dry, meaning oiled threads and shoulders or not.

Perfect is an understatement. Not only did they fix the crack in the one case half, but found and fixed 6 others that we didn't know about. All back together and flying again.
@gsxphil I'm thinking about getting a used o-320 engine and rebuilding it but am afraid of the costs, how much did it cost in total for you to buy a used engine and rebuild it ? like total in tools, parts , engine and paid labor?
I paid $4000.00 for the used engine. in total it cost me about $18000 total. Thats including the $4000.00. I did enlist the help of a local engine shop to help me re-assemble. They only charged me $900 for two days in the shop. You can definitely save alot of money going this route. I took a gamble that the parts that i received were going to be good. I knew that crank was good, it had already been sent out and refurbished. All the parts that i sent out to be refurbished and inspected all came back good. i bought the new cylinders and pistons. Running good for nearly 400 hours now. Happy to answer any other questions.
@@gsxphil So I've watched a couple of RU-vid videos, and what I'm going to do when I got my used engine is to disassemble it and clean it with break cleaner , then take the crank and roads to a automobile machine shop and have them balance it, but I'm not sure about what to do if the pistons and cylinder bores of they where out of tolerance? I'm thinking of only getting slitly oversized positions and machine the old cylinder bores to match and save money. do you think it would work and what do you recommend looking out for on the used engine to not get ripped off?
