I'm a man, and yet, I am a very staunch believer of the truth that women deserve better. They always get mocked for being themselves, enjoying things that are seen as "feminine" and "girlish", and if they don't like those things, they're still mocked for "thinking they're boys" and "needing to know their place". And don't get me started on women who fall outside of the gender binary... Women. Deserve. Better. Everyone deserves better. We need to stop fighting among ourselves, and realize that our seeing each other without any nuance and empathy is just keeping the patriarchy strong. Consider me a man who'll gladly listen to women, no matter what background, culture, race, gender identity, etc, etc, is, and treat them as PEOPLE, rather than as LESSERS. ...Yeah, I definitely cried during this, can't you tell? :')

Yeah, this song give so thought for minds. It's not just a song about women hurt by men, but by other womans too, who belives in too harsh judgement, and who are judgemental. I was taking part in religious classes at schoo; and I never uderstood why Eve was considered the symbol of women begin evil or dumn, for disobeing god, siece she was no even able to talk to him like Adam. Was Eve even conscious begin? If she was a clone of Adam (made from rib) then probably not, but in chrisitans wersion she was. And men and women where made as equals. I also belive that all humans are equals and inportans.

True empathy should not be exclusive to one gender. We could all learn from each other instead of bickering amongst ourselves most of the time. In this instance I empathize with the women who suffered throughout history and continues to in this day, especially in third world countries where this is common. I only hope the same empathy can be extended to men when they also do, not discounting the suffering women have gone thru. Peace.

This really is what everyone needs to hear. No matted the gender, race, identities(gender or attraction), religion, ect, we all deserve to be treated like our own individual stars who shine in good but some still fall to corruption and decide to hate and shame others for being themselves. However, this is our punishment. As we all know, Adam and Eve were kicked out of Eden for eating the apple, for going against God and that punishment is still pushed on us too. We are punished for the actions of our predecessors, whether Adam and Eve or your ancestors who came from your family, just like the districts from The Hunger Games. Life is The Hunger Games, we are put through struggles like starvation, favoritism, poverty, judgment, suffering, pain, and all major struggles because of what they did. We all wouldn't be here without sin becoming a thing, we are born from sin and imperfection molded together into humans who are complex creatures. None of us would have ever seen the light of day as our past defines us in a sense because what even our parents did before you were born will affect you. An example of this is, my friend is constantly being treated like a horrid individual because of his mother and who she was. No matter, what the cycle continues. We have tried over and over to stop it but the cycle will continue because no one is perfect, maybe things can change but all of this will one day never even matter. The cycle of hatred and shaming society has had will keep up if we don't all try to see each other not just as humans but special and unique individuals who at the end of the day will always be our family by blood or not. Everyone deserves the right to change for the better and to be treated with kindness but some people still won't change and that is honestly their lost. Those who want to change, keep trying. It will be worth it for yourself, even if not everyone can see it you can always become better. People can't control you, you can control yourself. So, work on being the best you can be!!❤

yes! i like that they saved her, but i feel like even the animation isn’t really hopeful at the end. as most people have said, Eve doesn’t look happy, she just looks tired. someone noted that that’s probably because this has happened many many times before, & i think that adds up with the “…as mother dies, and dies, and dies, and dies, and dies…” so it’s technically a good ending, but it’s also not really happy. idk i think it fits

@@nicobish8085 I interpreted it as the ones that freed her did risk taking her place, and probably did. And she is sad in the end because they are not the first people to speak up and save her. I think she knows that the cycle will repeat and the ones who stood up for her will be punished too. How often do a few people stand up to a mob and come out ok? How often does stepping out of line actually work? And yet, they felt they needed to try; because maybe one day enough people will follow.

No, she doesn’t. Eve wasn’t a victim and wasn’t an infant-she was a grown woman who knew full well the consequences of her actions. The Story of Jesus shows everyone that Satan has no power over those who don’t listen to him. The narrative that Eve is somehow a victim is steeped in the narrative that women should be treated like innocent angels or like naive toddlers. Such a narrative simply isn’t true.

And still, Eve was convinced to bite it by DEVIL and Adam was convinced by her. And we don’t know their age, they could’ve been infants. So you just want to hug both because they didn’t even knew what was going to happen. And I still don’t really understand what was so awful about the apple, they say god gave humans free will but devil was the one to give them the apple, which gave them negative emotions, and what free will without negative aspects of your personality? Others say apple didn’t gave anything, apple was just a fruit, so we must do whatever the hell god wants even if it’s not justified? Really!? And also, Eve gets whole blame in many versions and throw out whole history, you can say “my bible don’t blames her” but how do you know what your bible is truth when it has the same amount of evidences as others? @@Doomzdeh Eve did not deserve that. Adam was just at fault as Eve was. Eve started the fall but Adam completed it. They were both prideful and childish before God rather than humble and confessing their sin. So says the Eastern Orthodox Church (the original Christian church). My Mother also taught me that Eve wasn't seduced because she was a woman, but because she was the youngest in all creation. The youngest baby of the group tend to be more naive and gullible than others, and it didn't matter the gender. Evangelicals take everything too literally in the Bible. Evangelicalism is ugly. Also, the way you describe women is a direct insult to the Holy Virgin Mary.

People saying "I hope we can forgive Eve"... guys, the song is about pleading with Eve to forgive us, not the other way around. We villainised her, disdained her, called her the original sinner, blamed her for our "sins", when in fact she was put in a cruel, impossible situation by an omniscient deity who knew her weaknesses and knew what she would choose and punished her when she did the very thing that was expected of her. Giving someone "free will" and punishing them when they don't make the choice you wanted them to make isn't free will at all. It is calculated cruelty. Giving humans sentience and asking them to behave like puppets is not and could never be the act of a loving god. Eve's choice to eat from the tree of knowledge embodied the pursuit of autonomy and embracing curiosity. Commendable qualities. It's not her fault humanity fell from grace. The system was corrupt and tyrannical from the beginning.

It’s less about being punished for a wrong choice and more about facing the consequences for your actions. The Genesis story starts from the supposition that something went wrong-the author looked around and saw that we were not living in a perfect world and that we often hurt each other and ourselves. So what went wrong? According to the Genesis story, we reached out for knowledge before the proper time. We chose our own will over the will of our Creator, mistrusting that our Creator had our best interests at heart. That choice sundered us from our Creator. Not because he wanted that for us, but because that’s what happens when you turn away from someone. But what happens next? The Genesis story continues with the promise of redemption. The same Creator one, takes away access to immortal life on earth (the tree of life), so that people do not suffer endlessly, and two, promises a redeemer. Bridging the gap between God and humans takes a unique situation: it takes God becoming human, himself. To repair the relationship, to balance justice and mercy, and to bring us back to himself, he becomes man and dies for our sins, including that original breach. Then, he rises from the dead, destroying even the hold of mortality upon us. And that is the Judeo-Christian story in a nutshell. To your point, I believe we can extend compassion to Eve, while also asking for her forgiveness, too. Because we all bear our own responsibility for our own actions. And trust me, people have absolutely misused the Genesis story to villainize Eve and, therefore, all women. Looking at you, Milton…. But I thought maybe you would be interested to hear this take on the story and know that it isn’t meant, at its heart, to grind Eve into the dust. She is the first woman-that is glorious beyond words. She fell-that is human beyond words. She was redeemed-and that is hopeful beyond words. ❤

what helps is reading/listening to stories as much as you can (in fancy terms "educating yourself"). One day you might realize "hey, I can cite like 10 sources which prove this person's wrong!" And boom, suddenly you know things. Also it keeps you actively engaging with the problems without forcing you to do things you're uncomfortable with (like speaking in public) but you can work towards that kinda stuff if you want to.

The ammazing thing about Eve is that she is the reason there's human life on earth (if you're religious). Many people and churches skip over the part that Adam and Eve had no idea how to procreate, but were commanded to. They were also told not to eat of the fruit from the tree of knowledge. She made the choice to eat and when she did she discovered the knowledge she needed to follow that commandment. But in doing so they were cast from the garden and were made to labor for their food, age, and die. For her choice to sacrifice and get that knowledge, she has been ostracized and villianized for thousands of years.

My entire life I've only heard Eve being blamed for eating the apple. When I got my menstruation I was told "Blame Eve for eating the fruit," whenever I was in pain or inconvenienced. Every conversation about the topic of sin, it always reverted back to Eve and her taking the first bite. Even when I bring up that Adam was there and could have stopped her at any time, that the serpent deliberately manipulated her its always met with "But, she should have just not eaten it!!" It's sad. Just for further in the bible she is used as an example of why women should be suppressed; her punishment for falling victim to manipulation. Genesis 3:6 "So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave it to her husband with her, and he ate." Genesis 3:16 "To the woman He said: 'I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; In pain you shall bring forth children; Your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you.' " 1 Corinthians 11:8 "For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man. For man is not from woman, but woman from man. Nor was man created for the woman, but woman for the man. For this reason the woman ought to have a symbol of authority on her head, because of the angels." (Even though immediately Paul says that both men and women are equal in God: if so, then why is a woman to be covered but not men??)

This really is gorgeous. From the animatic storytelling to the song's message itself. It's about a struggle that women face, a struggle many minorities face, where they can't do right by everyone and are scorned for everything they try instead. From the switching of women scorned for what they did to make things better for themselves or their families, being shown as the villains instead of the pathway into evolution. And I love how it went from older models to younger women, more modern women who still deal with the condemning of others because of everything they are and more. And I LOVE how the final order of images go from Lydia to Eve to the young girl. It shows that the focus now isn't for the older people who've learned to stand by, it's for the new generation who shouldn't put up with this fate and break the cycle. A message to the next generation to be weary that so many have already fallen victim to it but only the young generation can change things. This was so brilliant, the repetition, and the folksy vibe just add to the dark demeanor. Like this is a warning from the narrator (Lydia) who saw this first hand and is warning the younger about the cycle. In a world where we're all told to follow the status quo, to condemn and just take it if you 'deserve' it, we need to stand against all of this. Brilliant, Lydia!

I think alongside the little girl being the first to speak up, the fact that a bunch of poc being amongst those to vouch for her cause is also very potent. They've always been at the forefront of a lot of change and that isn't to take away from the non-poc that have fought, it just feels very important to me. Maybe I'm overthinking, maybe I'm not. That's just one of the many things I observed in this masterpiece of a song.

Eve was relayed this rule through Adam. As such, the punishment was not as severe when she took a bite. Something to note is that when Eve ate the fruit, nothing happened. But when Adam bit it, both of them lost their innocence as they were filled with knowledge. This is because the Bible actually holds Adam more accountable for this transgression than Eve. Adam was created first and given a direct order to follow. Sort of like the expectations of an elder sibling versus a younger sibling situation. This is even reflected in their punishments. Eve's punishment was the pain of childbirth and being considered lesser than men. Adam's punishment was literal death and the struggle to survive. ‭Romans 5:17 KJV‬ [17] For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) The Bible frequently blames Adam, almost never even mentioning Eve, for the death of mankind and their sinful ways. The so-called "religious" people who pin the blame on Eve for bringing sin into the world are just spewing out their own narrative at that point. It stuck for centuries because many people were illiterate in older days and could not correct them. But it is sad to see these people still spewing this narrative CONTRARY to the bible and faith that they claim to be a part of.

As Christian, I can say that in the Bible Adam is blamed as mush as Eve. They both commited the first sin and they both got punishment of it. Unfortunately, since many people uses religion to justify their own cruel beliefs and evil actions, they blame Eve more and even make it a reason to neglet all other women (while, in Christianity, you should have love and respect for EVERY human, no matter if it's man or woman, sinner or saint). The adversary wore down Eve into eating it, who in turn wore down Adam. It is believed that had both Adam and Eve sincerely repented and not put the blame on others, they would have been forgiven

The repetitive cycle of martyrdom be it for a cause or injustice hits hard. Generational curses, curses, women casting on roles that they are forced into or felt like they had to to save their families, countries, or protect those precious. Eves being heroes, known victims who weren’t saved. Some dying because of unfair trials, sexism, religious hubris and political decisions the rest discarded because they were women in general. I love how beautifully haunting this was, I even saw the transition from historical figures to unknown or barely mentioned, I also love the symbolism as well as you putting your own self in this to represent that you too are an Eve as every other women.

The irony of blaming Eve for sin is look at the actual story in the Bible (even you if you don't believe it sit fascinating). God gives the rule about the tree to Adam, BEFORE Eve was created, mean Adam would have been the one to teach Eve the rules, and when the snake tells Eve eat the apple, Adam is RIGHT THERE. It says, "And she gave some to her husband" not she went look for him, no he was right there with her. The Bible was written and translated by men and it shows. Reason 352 that I chose to study theology. Learned so much.

Consider that Paul blames Adam for eating the fruit, but he says that Eve was deceived. He acknowledged that it wasn't Eve's fault, but her husband who was with her, Adam.

True point. And logically not all men can be like that. And yes the Bible as written by Spirit empowered people shows the falls in humanity, not just men or women. What I meant by that is the way that the Bible as we have today shows that it was translated by men and often taught by men, growing up in my church culture I was told women were the fall of humanity. I was well into adulthood when it dawned on me that Adum has to have been present in the story, not off working in some field. A different experience would shape how one views critical moments in the Bible..

My Dad is a faithful pastor who studies the word night and day and teaches it faithfully (he also knows and uses the original languages to do so). I never grew up hearing that woman caused the fall of humanity and never came to that conclusion from reading my English copy of the Bible-which I have read thoroughly many times (fyi I use NKJV). Only heard stuff like that from a few people and those people are never people who actually know their Bibles.

@FreedomeSeeker In my experience it's also only those who are petty who teach those false doctrines. Too many people don't look at their Bibles to confirm what's being said and will end up thinking the strangest things because they mix up what they think and what the Bible actually teaches. The reformed at the Westminster Assembly back in the 1600's knew and taught that Adam was the cause of the fall (see Westminster Shorter Catechism 16 and 18). It probably has more to do with the state of the church today, the fact that actual believers are spread quite thin, and that almost no one actually cares to study the scriptures thoroughly and often just try to use them to support what they are saying instead of showing what God is saying through His Holy Inspired Words. It's actually very easy to twist anything anyone says to mean the exact opposite of what they say if one is careful or careless enough...

Ok well, Adam had to work the land and take care of his family. Even tho Eve had childbirth and was in pain, Adam had to work for the rest of his life for food, stability, and a place for his family to rest. It's easy to look at what happened to Eve but not Adam. Not trying to say that women don't need encouragement, but I am saying that we need to recognize that men have it hard too.

@@perlapamela2023 sure, jeanne d´arc was from a french peasent family during the 100 year war between france and britain, till one day she said she heard the voice of a angel speaking down to her, telling her god has given her the duty to lead france in the war against britain and free france from the brits tyranny. so she went on her way, forming a army and fighting with it against the brits, all while keeping up her christian believes and moral, fighting successful against the brits. That was until the brits captured her and put her on trial for being a heretic witch. jeanne d´arc refusing to submit to the will of the brits and keeping her believe denied any acusations of, but in the end she was executed. on the way to the stake to be burned she kept praying to god to forgive the ones wronging her, she kept praying this all while she also was burning at the stake, and so she died at the age of 19. She was a freedom fighter who never has let down her ideals and always kept fighting, and for this was executed as a witch, like so many before her. and the worst part is that she was trialed and executed in france by a french bishop, she was killed by the very people she fought for.

The fandom is...the Bible. The girl with the green hair is just Lydia's own bard character featured in all of her videos. I suspect some of the other characters represent some of the collaborating artists. The song is about actual Eve from Genesis and the millennia of feminine rage that's been building up ever since she was held accountable for a choice she made while she still had innocence. It asks her to forgive us for using her as the ultimate scapegoat while women fight one another under a system that benefits from that strife. That's my interpretation, anyway.

Mormon here. (I know, I know. I know.) We know the truth about Mother Eve. She recognized the contradiction before Adam, between the two commandments: to multiply and replenish the Earth. And to not eat of the fruit of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, lest we lose our innocence and become accountable for our thoughts and actions... She realized there was no other way. She had the wisdom to make the necessary choice to allow us to learn and progress, if we chose. And we are very grateful for that. Just seeing the weariness, pain, exhaustion, heartbreak, and helplessness on Eve's face even after she's freed just tells you she's pretty much given up hope on her "daughters," hell, everyone!!! And that just broke my heart. She makes one mistake, as does Adam yet SHE'S the one that gets the most blame, not Adam. Excuse me, but did they or did they NOT both eat from the forbidden fruit??? You don't need glasses to see what REALLY happened. 🤦🤦🤦 I mean, what the actual eff!?!?!? Uuughhh!!! It's just so unjust and cruel. Poor Eve. I really feel for her in this song. The way Lydia wrote her in the song makes Eve much more sympathetic, realistic, relatable, complex and most importantly, utterly human in every way. More than the Bible ever could. I don’t think what there will be girl power message, HH isn’t what deep of a show. But I would love to see like magical girl Madoka Magica type of arc, like when a character sacrifices everything to fight for humans and then understands the sad reality, says how stupid they are and dies but then we see how another character sacrifices themself out of pure love, what gives us moral what we need to find hope even in worst despair. Or something like what (btw Sayaka did killed those guys on the train. Creepy….but like who I it of 5 main characters haven’t killed anyone? Homura killed Madoka Mami killed Kyoko Sayaka killed Kyoko Madoka killed Mami….) it would fit the show even without the deaths. But you know Madoka Magica with no death? HAH-
