Resonated deeply with this masterpiece. Gave me closure and understanding I didn’t know I needed towards a past relationship. He was absorbed in his ways, and established in his life. The longer I was strayed the more I became an entity of his life and the more unrested my soul was. The love was intense, I didn’t even realize I began to adapt his negative qualities and his soul was staining mine. Towards the end there was a wall between our hearts and we both stayed at that window...until he grew bored of waiting at that wall wanting my light and love and I grew depressed wanting to express it to him and being unable to feel it. The very last scene is what floored me....it was the lesson I was yet to see. If it’s not good for the soul the universe will reject it, to align you on the right path and protect you. I may have been empty, drained, complacent. But the power that pushed and forced me on a different path protected me from being sucked into someone else’s darkness or “redness, that color portrayed in the video to contaminate every thing else.

It’s a deep complicated love story, and we are dealing with two people who fall madly in love, but are from very different pasts and different emotional foundations and with wildly different inner lives and wants. One swimming closer, one swimming away. I think that shot represents the crossroad in the relationship and the notion that no matter how much you want it to work out, the universe wants different and will throw such a heavy storm at you that you at some point you will let go of your lovers hand. But even the moment you decide to let go, you remember all the good, the passion, the love, the beginning, the magic and then again you go back into the love loop that will eventually lead you to the end of the road. -Lykke Li

I find it hard to express my feelings about this video. It puts me in a sad mood, but I love this video/song so much, it's actually my second favorite one in the record, just behind "sex, money, feelings, die". What a great artist Lykke Li is, and what a masterpiece this is!

Nothing can touch "I Never Learn" album and her beauty those days. That's Lykke I'm gonna remember forever.

After all these years I still come back to this song and find something new to love. Is it just me or is the little beeping in the background sound like a heart monitor. Lykke lost her mom during the creation of this album and now it adds a whole new layer for me.😿

the most amazing song ever

The video starts out with them kissing through a shower curtain with red hitting her back. This is foreshadowing some thing that I will later reveal. The boyfriend then walks into the red hallway. The color red is already symbolizing some sort of negativity but I will get into that. We then show her in a red dress looking in the mirror, but she does not look content with what she is seeing. As the next shot shows that she is in a red dress but this time instead of a shower curtain the distance has some how the distance got thicker, You can barely make it out that the boyfriend is with her but she feels very distant from him. We then show a memory of them in the pool but to open up the shot there is two yellow frogs walking over red leafs to eventually get to the yellow leafs. And then tilts up to see them in the pool with two lemons in the background and a pint with lemons cut up in water. Symbolizing that euphoric happiness that they are in. Yellow means love and red means some sort of negativity and trouble. It then shows him driving the car as she is looking out the window and this could possibly symbolize that he is the one driving in the relationship controlling everything and she kind of feels like a passenger. As it cuts to the fish tank seen this meant to me that they were together but all of the fish is kind of like the other people in the world. “There’s more fish in the sea” as they say, and we cut to them kissing with a fish in the boyfriends hand. The fish is the color red. This to me symbolize that the boyfriend was cheating because he saw other people in the world and he liked what he saw. She had no idea that he was cheating. It then shows them in the bed and the sheets are red and there is a woman in the corner of the frame on the left side. This could possibly symbolize that he was sleeping with another girl in their bed. Around 212s we start to see that she is starting to notice a difference and somethings up. And then we show the intro scene again as they are kissing but now there is a curtain in between them symbolizing that the separation has begun. She doesn’t feel the same. It then shows a compilation of them being together but she is now in a red dress kind of similar to the fish. And then at 2:45 it shows her alone has the camera pans over and he was right next to her the whole time but she is feeling alone. I believe that her being in the red dress is her trying to be what he wants. But what she doesn’t feel is right. She is trying to be everything that he wanted but in the beginning of the relationship it seemed that she was perfect the way she was. And now she feels she’s changing herself, hence smoking cigarettes looking stressed out and feeling more distant from him. And around 3:30 we see a foggy shot with a lot of clouded distance in between them and from here we know that there’s no return. He fades away and let’s go because he doesn’t have the strength. We then cut to her running away from him as he might’ve just revealed that he cheated. She’s trying to grip her to show him how much he really loves her but she knows if she looks at him she’ll cave-in and just let it be. So she’s trying to run for her life. She finally lets go and Tries to get another grip and then she finally makes a run for it right as it cuts. This is just what it symbolize to me. I saw a ton of details and how the color all was infused with the video. This is just my perspective but is no way “the correct meaning of the video”
