Sorry for the late post. The Win AA HS got a bad rep because as the hull wore out, the wall would separate from the top of the base, and the lip of the wad would catch on that gap and ruin the seal. Claybuster modified all their Winchester style hulls to have a lead-in taper to prevent catching on that gap...EXCEPT for the CB1138 wad! IMHO you should only use the 1138 wad in original AA compression formed hulls and avoid using them in AA HS hulls.
Awesome content! I have had similar experiences with loading ballistics products slugs in my SBE with a fully rifled slug barrel. I’m looking forward to the next video! Thank you and God bless you and your family.
Looks like those 12ga 525 slugs prefer to be pushed faster. They might need the higher RPM to stabilize properly out of the rifled choke tube. Keep up the good work Sir!
My recipe for the 525 with Blue Dot is a fair bit hotter than what Bubba loaded. Fold crimp on Remington RXP tapered hulls, WAA12F114 wad. It's out of the Lyman 5th Edition. Published velocity is 1501. I got 1535 & 1843 with 2 shots at the range! And yes, they are accurate out of my smooth bore, an old Auto 5 with shortened barrel. I need to try them thru my SKB which has a choice of chokes. Maybe try a modified. Seems like roll crimping is harder on the hulls.
Howdy, Brother! New subscriber here. I currently enjoy my woodworking hobby. Lately, I've been wanting to do some small game hunting. I'm only about 55 years late to the party. With your expertise and insight I think I'll have a fun second hobby (Hunting/Reloading). Thanks and Drive-on, Cowboy! Praise Jesus!
Great video.. I hope you're doing ok. This is mother's day, I'm sure today is different without your wife. I'm still praying for you and your daughter. Jeff Myers
Enjoy your channel praying for family every day. Keep the faith. Question your wooden hand wad pushers that are magnetic, are they specially made or are they sold by someone?
I use blue dot, I can't remember the exact load I think it was 42 or 46, whatever the recipie is in the Lyman manual, but it was ripping at 1550. Recoil is substantial lol
Picked up some federal 1 1/4 1600 slugs..3 inch on a deal, havent slung them yet. I got the feeling they're gonna thump lol, def not be using in a tac 14 I can tell u that
How goes sir .I am subscribed but not getting any updates .Thank you for what you do !.I have the same slug mold I get 1 1/4 oz with alloy I have about 35 grams .Do you have a load for sr4756 that works good on those slugs ..The recepieI found a few years ago is 35 to 39 grains of sr4756 for a 1 1/4 oz payload also have the 7/8 key drive and have not used it yet .
Hi bud, i just wanted to tell you that i have decided to forget about the 2 and ¾ magnum load and only go with the normal/standard 2 and ¾ 12 pellet "00" .133 buckshot load - AND - the 3 inch 15 pellet "00" .133 buckshot load. Thanks for your time bud. If there is anything i can do for you just let me know 🙂
@@BubbaRountreeOutdoors Sorry bud, i got all stressed and i got mixed up and expressed myself poorly - - - -- - Here is what i wanted your help with: I need the Hodgdön Longshot powder loads for - - 2 and ¾ magnum load and only go with the normal/standard 2 and ¾ 12 pellet "00" .133 buckshot load - AND - the 3 inch 15 pellet "00" .133 buckshot load - - - . Thanks in advance for your help bud. Tony in Sweden
Hello again bud. I just went to hodgdons homepage and looked for Longshot. I took a close look att the text/load table on the bottle. To My great surprise thete is no load for 3 inch shells, only loads for 2 3/4 shells/Hulls - Help please:(
Its youre fault!!!!! You did this to me!!! A few years ago watching youre channel got me re interested in reloading shotgun shells again. Ive since bought a Lee Loadall, Then a MEC Jr. etc. etc.. It would have been cheaper to have taken up gambling and not as addictive. LOL glad to see you doing well.
Hello Bubba, I love watching your films. I was wondering if you cöuld help me with something. You were recommended to me by “The Shotgun Scientist”. Here is my problem: I bought the "5th Edition - Lyman Shotshell Reloading Handbook" and looked for HODGONS LONGSHOT. I found NOTHING ! about "LONGSHOT". In the handbook on pages 348 to 357 which is about 2 3/4 and 3 inch .330 buckshot loads. All this has made me sad that I threw away 43 dollars for the handbook and have no use for it. Is there another name/code for Longshot in Lymans handbook maybe ? NOTE: I first bought 3 bottles of Winchester WSF after reading on the internet that they were used for 12 gauge shotgun shells. ( I never opened the bottles ) I was then told on here that Winchester powder is not good enough for big/heavy 3 inch loads. I now have a 4 hour drive -return- trip to swap Winchesters for Hodgdons for 2 bottles of ( Very strict rules for sending powder in Sweden. ) To the point. Kan you please tell me the powders loads or as close as you can - Or where to find. ) the proper data Hodgdon Longshot powder is for : For 2 and three quarter shells use 9 pellets - Hornaday . 330 For 3 inch shells use 15 pellets For 2 and 3 quarter inch MAGNUM shots use 12 pellets = 1.37 oz. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me. Kind regards Tony
I believe the green gun club load is the one I'd go with,That was a great group for slug's,I need to get my husband to load some of those for me I've been using some old BRI slugs we bought a case of off gun broker they kick a lot for me but extremely accurate out of my Remington 11-87
