LYME REGIS | Full tour of seaside holiday town Lyme Regis Dorset, from The Cobb to the Town Centre and on to Lyme Regis beach. Lyme Regis is a charming seaside town situated between Seaton and Bridport on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, England. This stunning coastline is famed for its rich fossil finds and Lyme Regis is a haven for hoildaymakers, fossil hunters and geology enthusiasts.
The town itself is a delightful blend of Georgian architecture, quaint shops, and traditional English charm. Here's a look at why people love to holiday in Lyme Regis and the top ten tourist attractions that will make your visit unforgettable:
Reasons to holiday in Lyme Regis:
Fossil Hunting: Lyme Regis is world-renowned for its fossil hunting opportunities. Millions of years ago, the area was a shallow sea teeming with marine life. The fossils found here range from prehistoric fish and insects to ichthyosaurs and plesiosaurs.
Jurassic Coast: Lyme Regis is perfectly positioned along the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that stretches for 95 miles along the south coast of England. This coastline is a geological wonderland, showcasing a remarkable 185 million years of Earth's history.
Beaches: Lyme Regis boasts a delightful selection of beaches, each with its own unique character. The main beach is a sandy haven, perfect for families and swimming. Monmouth Beach is a popular spot for fossil hunting, while Church Cliff Beach offers rock pools to explore at low tide.
Stunning scenery: Lyme Regis is surrounded by breathtaking scenery. Golden cliffs fringe the coastline, offering panoramic views of the English Channel. The rolling hills and lush countryside provide a delightful backdrop to the town.
Relaxing atmosphere: Lyme Regis offers a laid-back and relaxing atmosphere. It's a world away from the hustle and bustle of big city life, making it the perfect place to unwind and recharge.
Top ten tourist attractions and things to do in Lyme Regis:
The Cobb: This iconic harbour wall is a prominent landmark in Lyme Regis. Dating back to the 13th century, it's a great place to stroll and enjoy stunning views of the coastline.

I love how you occasionally have a little soft music while still allowing those ambient sounds to come through. And thank you for looking at every little thing - I won’t be able to travel for another year or two, and your videos mean everything to me.

I've recently been getting help with my mental health and I mentioned G Ws to my therapist and said how much the videos just relax me and take me to another place. I think he's a fan now. I had to write ✍️ a 5000 words essay whilst taking my journalism degree on The French Lts Woman.😲😵 Lyme Regis is gorgeous. The book 📖 definitely isn't. Shut up dog 🐕 🐶. Another great video Neil 👍👍

My parents lived just outside Lyme but on the Devon side. The estate they rented the house on had its own private beach. Ammonite fossils galore which was great for us kids. This was over 50 years ago I must add!

Thankyou for filming Mary Anning’s Statue, - I didn’t get the opportunity to visit it when I was in the area last year. We had many holidays searching for fossils in Lyme Regis when the children were small, it was one of our favourite holiday destinations.
