On November 22, 1963, Lynda Johnson Robb, President and Mrs. Johnson's daughter, was a student at The University of Texas at Austin. In this video interview with LBJ Library Director Mark Updegrove, she reflects on that tragic day in Dallas and her father's transition to the presidency.

Lynda Johnson was a stunning young woman all of her life. She has shared insights not shared until now about the relationship between the Kennedy's and Johnson's.... and the Johnson Family Unit. The Media had led the Citizens to believe there was bad blood been LBJ and JFK.... and their wives. I'm grateful to hear it wasn't true.

LBJ passed every piece of legislation that JFK wanted for the country. Medicare, Medicaid, civil rights, strong labor unions, women's rights, peace corp. The war on poverty. If it wasn't for Vietnam, LBJ's head would be on Mount Rushmore. The radical republicans(the few that were left) in the mold of Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt, supported the Social Justice programs, LBJ signed into law.The dixicrats hated LBJ, they hated FDR also. The democrat party was a shinning light for the poor, minorities, working class from.1933-1968. After LBJ the DNC became the party of Capitulation. Today both parties are ruled by corporate Reaganism.

Lady Bird was a tremendous lady I believe, she seemed to be very loving and gracious and caring about everyone, I don’t think she got the total credit she deserved, because Lady actually worked and I think Jackie did but more in public relations. But I really loved both I just felt closer to Lady.

Lynda and Luci said the same comment when asked about their fathers relationship with JFK. LBJ and JFK didn’t get along! Listen to Jackie’s interviews. She didn’t have much to say about the Johnsons

It’s interesting how, as adults, we get to call our fathers “daddy”, but no one publicly calls their mother “mommy” when they’re adults! Speculation: Is it because we usually spend more time with our mothers while growing up, and therefore see her as more of an authority figure, or is it that traditionally, we see our fathers only at night and on weekends, so every moment seems more special with him, and therefore we call him “daddy”?? I don’t know, and I’m not sure! But this could be possible. Also, usually it’s adult females calling their father “daddy”, and not adult males, probably because it’s females who are known as “Daddy’s little girl”. It’s just a different relationship with females toward dad than males, of course. A daughter uses daddy as a gauge in which to choose (or be chosen by!) a husband, when the time comes for dating and thinking about marriage.

Incredible how this recollection is rendered compared to her sister's... they are somehow as different as night and day . I feel in a way she was much more fortunate than her sister for being in college and surrounded by a lot of people and being in a dorm .
