This version of this song brings me to tears. I requested it to be sung during my mother's burial. She really loved this song but it really hits me so hard because it describes her life. She never had much but lived a life of service and helping people. She took homeless people off of the street and shared her section 8 apartment with them. She let pregnant teenage girls live with us when their parents kicked them out. She taught me and my friends how to play chess and at any time during the day anyone could stop by, play chess, smoke, and get advise for any trouble they were having. She was a good woman but I didn't realize the magnitude of her greatness until she was gone. Happy 78th Birthday today to my wonderful, beautiful mother.

I searched this song bc my Social Worker daughter got a big thank you text filled with nothing but love and gratitude from a child that she helped many years ago. At one point my daughter questioned the work that she’s doing. This song came to my mind and it is sooo true! If I can help somebody…then my living will not be on vain!! You are in my prayers 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽❤️
