Lyng and District Line Episode3 - fitting the lift up section 

Hi Chris - basically yes. I used a 12mm board and drilled through with a 8.5mm drill, as the 8 mm drill bit did not allow the dowel to go through on my experimental boards. The depth of one half of the metal dowel was 12mm so I knew it would be flush with the top once pressed in. As long as the bottom piece of wood was at least 12mm deep and i put a stop on the drill bit at 12mm, i knew it would fit flush once both halves were pushed through together.
