From the original SDF Macross, episode 11. First play of the song throughout the series. No subs or karaoke. Original name: 私の彼はパイロト - watashi no kare wa pilot
Something that I find really charming about this anime (And pretty much any vintage futuristic show) is that even though it's set in 2009 this song and the style of show that Minmay is singing in, is pretty much one of those Variety Shows that were popular during the 70's. It's funny and charming to see how they were trying to portrait the future, but they were still pretty much bounded by what they knew, and it shows more through this kind of small details.
@@vertserc453 @sketchingsketch Yes, and the funny thing is that it is specially true with things like fashion and music. We can kinda project and predict to some degree the developments in technology but we can't predict the more cultural and subjective things like music.
@@vertserc453 It's heading in a really boring direction. Everyone is just rehashing styles from the 2000s. The 2010s were pretty dull, so what are they going to rehash for the 2030s (20 year cycle)? Music is gonna suck, fashion is gonna suck.
@@alexpage10 And even for the technology the prediction are always pretty generic .. like the Idea of the 21st century car for people in the beginning of the ‘900. The further the prediction is, the harder it is to make it
@@BountyRogueCinemax Absolutely! In every Macross series an Idol singer or group is central to the story. Minmay is the first and best, but there have been lots of great idols in Macross. I am very partial to Sharon Apple from Macross Plus. Macross is about 1/4 romance and lighter moments, 1/4 Idol singer stuff, 1/4 high octane, often quite brutal aireal mech combat, 1/4 the horror, pain, tragedy and loss that war brings. Most of Macross is very well written and will just pull you into its world, get you to really care about a lot of characters before crushing your heart as it brutally slaughters half of them. There is no series quite like it, nothing I can think of really tops it.
You what I truly love how adv decided to smart and not change Minmays voice, and instead got her seyuie to do it, that is the ultimate gift for us fans I think.
ADV Films actually did an actual english dub of the real Macross, I got it for Christmas last year and it also gives you the original japanese version as well!!!!
It's an earworm - just binge-watched the show for the first time over the last week, and I've had this song stuck in my head constantly ever since. Not a bad thing at all - not even remotely my style of music, but for what would be a dated, generic pop song in any other show, and should be overplayed given that I must have heard it nearly a hundred times over the last week, it's quite well-written and catchy, and cute in a very wholesome sort of way, and doesn't really seem to get old. Bravo to whoever wrote it!
Ah my childhood... I used to be amused by this kind of anime but now the feeling is overwhelming, knowing how much animation has advanced in a couple of tens of years ;u;
I wish they'd make another Macross show or film with the original characters maybe on the SDF-2 Megaroad? I know most of the voice actors woudn't be available but I'm sure Mari Iijima (Lynn Minmay) would.... I can dream
I remember struggling to watch the series to the end because they kept playing it + I despised the whole character of Minmay and how she fucked Hikaru over
Macross is one of the best anime series ever! And this song is a super classic! Macross forever! Congrats for the 30th birthday! I'm watching this series again! And I really get impressed every time I watch it!
Why are people pointing out the differences between Ranka and Minmei? LMAO without Minmei there iS NO RANKA.. Minmei's singing is what made this series what it was.. Instead of being stupid just appreciate it for what it is.. Nostalgic look into Macross History.
As someone who just watched it for the first time i would have to disagree. Sure,the animation is aged but if you expect hd animation from an early 80's anime you've lost your mind honestly. And from the plot,at the moment i was having a hard time sticking to one anime without getting bored and especially mecha ones but Macross was the one that got me hooked from start to end. Plus They also have a good romance with cliches but ironically the original cliches are less cheesy than todays ones. Plus Misa is a reason herself to watch this and enjoy the show.
In the English version of Robotech. The song was change compeer to this. I am remember when Macross was aired on RPN 9 here in the Philippines. They dub in English but they live the song with this. What a history
