I noted that, before Ivy went to the Catholic retreat, she was absent from the show for a few days and then finally she was back for just a couple of scenes. And I noticed immediately that her mouth had a different shape to it. There was a puffiness above the upper lip, and it looked to me like she had recently had front teeth removed and replaced with veneers or some kind of dental operation. So that is probably the "dentak problem" she was alluding to.
And to think she only got booted off coronation street because she had her lips done. Nothing compared to the scandal and court cases that have gone on since and they get brought back when they get a not guilty verdict. How times have changed.
In fairness, i think her surgery was the final straw-she was drinking too. Plus with the other publicised cases such as Michael Le Vell, Barbara Knox, William Roache and Sue Cleaver [drink drivking] and the actor who played Lloyd,...yes they had their problems but they were still turning up at work, doing their jobs and being professional. There were no reports of them being trouble onset or having performance issues. With Perrie, she was likely being very difficult to work with, working with an addict in a show like Corrie would be impossible as the workload is grueling. It's a job where you have to be very on the ball. They'd given her warnings and she even says it here.
@@shanefolan I think people are more understanding of addiction or drink issues now than when she was in the Street. I don't think she'd be fired nowadays for the lips business
@@alanberkeley7282 Actually as part of actors contracts you can't get any image changing surgery/haircuts etc without permission so you could still be. Especially with a conservative character like Ivy who would have been dead against cosmetic surgery. But yes I do agree the help is more there nowadays.
i think she was supposed to be decent in her day at singing in fairness but years of drinking didn't help-that and with age most singing ability diminishes as your voice declines in quality. My mate saw Whitney Houston live around ten years ago and said that her singing ability was dreadful-I know it wasn't age so much with her but more with years of substance abuse.
At least the older soap actors didn't constantly give interviews on chat shows and use it as a way of plugging books and dvd's. Some scraped the barrel when they were out of work doing panto with the celebrity squares rabble. But they didn't crave constant attention and limelight like today's who do anything with the word celebrity in it. Big brother, jungle, dancing, basically all the tv shows taken over by washed up celebs, they'd sooner sit in a room knowing everyone is ripping the piss out of them than actually do a real job
Hahaha! If you think the original group from Corrie wouldn’t have been all over reality tv had it been around then; you are sadly deluded. Old Alby Tatlock included!
