@@JOAT_AMOS No, not in my opinion. This was a plane crash and I always count the pilots first, just like on the other plane crashes that have famous people onboard.

You watched this, and that's the best comment you could scrape up? Come on. At least have a tad bit of respect for someone who spent their life giving you something beautiful.

I believe that Ronnie was a God sent Angel. He said many times that he would die before he was thirty years old and sadly it came true. I believe that some people are closer to God than others even people believing in God and I believe that Ronnie was one of those lucky people that had a very special relationship with God. They all were very special talented people. They are missed by so many.

Ronnie a "God sent Angel"? Get outta here with that absolute nonsense😂😂😂.Ronnie Van Zant was an immensely talented singer/songwriter,he was also a violent drunk who assaulted his bandmates regularly when he was intoxicated. He knocked a few of Billy Powell's teeth out,cut Gary Rossington's hand severely, and threatened to cut Ed King's throat while holding him against a wall with a broken lamp just to name a few examples of his violent behavior.Ronnie Van Zant was anything but a "God sent Angel"......

I still get somewhat emotional listening to the guys talk about the crash. Been a fan since I first heard their music in the latter part of 1973. Will die a fan.

I respect what Dan is saying but I have to be honest they NEVER reached the level musically or power wise they had when they crashed in 1977. The band for all intents and purposes ended in 1977.

Current lineup still pretty solid. Saw them on New Year’s Eve live from Nashville. Also saw Artimus Pyle Band on Huckabee and they are every bit as solid as current Skynyrd. No one expects them to reach the heights of the original band, but they are troopers for keeping the music alive. I do believe Ronnie would approve!

James is right though. Just not the same band creatively without Ronnie. I just would have liked to have seen what else they would have come up with had the plane crash not happened, because they were all still relatively green in their career together, and I dont think that Skynard was a flash in the pan. There was some amazing musical talent in that band. Could have been even better had they had more time.

I think your wrong … YES … Lynrd would’ve been different than the band Johnny sang for … it’s 2 different guys .. he writes this song … he writes that song .. but to step in and write music to carry on the band after your Brothers passing and carry on the sound of bluesy southern rock is a testimony … still loved them … 💯🙏⭐️❤️🤙🦋

I never realized Gary had dreams of the crash almost every day. That breaks my heart, as I never knew this. It's like PTSD reliving this every day in a time you should be resting and at peace asleep.

I remember that day, I had just graduated high school a couple of months earlier & was listening to the radio when the news broke. In 1977 we lost another great one, ELVIS.

1977 was a bad year for rock. In August, Elvis died. Then (and I guess this matters more to English music fans, though I'm American and it makes me sad) in September 1977, Marc Bolan of T.Rex was killed in an automobile accident. And then in October 1977, the Lynyrd Skynyrd plane crashed. Bad year. (1980 was also an awful year for music.)

@@eaaivazianNot an English folk here, but I still knew exactly who you were talking about. Marc Nolan, what a huge loss there. Anytime we lose an artist that we love, it's like we just lost a best mate. The pain is definitely palpable.

I live in Jacksonville and Ronnie’s grave is at the same graveyard as my grandparents, I live in fruit cove which is a town in Jax, they have a property they used to own 3 walking minutes away from my house, we lost too many beautiful souls that day. I feel blessed to live where these boys took off and started their career.

When they went down they hit alot of pine trees but the tree that did them in was the big oak tree the plane hit and split it into if that oak hadnt been there maybe they would have made a softer landing because pine trees break easy
