This guy gets a terrible wrap. He took a team that had never won an AFL Grand Final to get to the Grand Final only to get beat by one of the best teams of all time.
Never a huge Ross the boss fan but this comment section is for the most part cancerous, a pretty dignified interview for someone who just got sacked I thought.
@john smith Not sure what you mean by 10/20 but I will say most people who ever succeded failed plenty beforehand, Dimma was on the chopping block in 16 then pulled one out of the bag, Bomber was the longest serving coach in VFL/AFL history without a premiorship until 07, Malcolm Blight was 0 from three with the Cats before going back to back with the Crows. Maybe I should go to google for some more excamples.
He was the best coach Fremantle had. He had his ups and downs but I fully respect Ross for what he has done. He had it tough, but he is a great bloke. Best of luck Rossy.
If he ever gets another coaching job he’s first speech to his players will go like this. From now on Everyone has to start thinking Negative. I don’t care if we only kick 1 goal for the match as long as the opposition kicks none. We will play backwards and sideways for as long as it takes. I don’t care if you think it’s boring, I don’t care if the fans think it’s boring, I am Ross Lyon my methods are old and don’t work but I Refuse to change.
This year for freo has been rattled by injuries but as a Freo Supporter I look to the future and to see what our new coach will do with the team and club heading forward into 2020 and beyond
I HATE defensive, spoiling coaches. They suck. Give me cricket scores, screamers, high impact bumps anytime than the crap Ross Lyon, Terry Wallace, Mick Malthouse and, to a great extent, Alistair Clarkson throw up. Give me Malcolm Blight footy all day every day. The kicking for goal these days is ATROCIOUS. The umpiring is RANDOM. And the football is BORING.
Personally I think Ross didn't do so bad with Freo.He had them up there for quite a while.got to the big dance and couldn't win against one of the best sides in the modern era.I respect and understand people's opinions by the way also:)
One of the tightest years to get a win for any team. Only at a quick glance, from what I've seen, playing some good football. In my opinion, should still be there.
Im a freo fan and yeah he was consistent in his first yeara as coach but he'sjust been inconsistent, just doesn't have the right game plans, will be sad to see him go, but I think freo needs a fresh start. Thank you Ross 💜❤💚
I didn't agree with his coaching style and I don't think his game plans where good enough to actually win games by decent margins. The games where up and down for 4 years straight, no consistency.

As a Freo fan and having watched most of their games under Ross I seems to me pretty obvious they are well coached in defense and midfield, but are pretty much undercoached when it comes to moving the ball into the 50.

Awful decision. I am not sure what information the board has that the public don't. But Lyon is clearly a capable coach. The board have all placed their heads on the block should the next phase in the dockers history come unstuck.
@john smith yeah i know right? he had 4 opportunties to win a premiership the 2009 GF the 2010 draw and replay and the 2013 GF with some of the best forwards in the game, and achieved nothing
LYON BEAT gws away from home, collingwood away from home. Brisbane Lions who are on a 9 game winning streak, and Geelong. He overachieved this year, with very close losses across the board. They would have made finals easy next year
FJaypewpew it’s called a rivalry. No matter where we are on the ladder, Freo will always more loyal supporters and a bigger heart. You will realise that when we start winning again.
On the one hand, I'm loving this. It was disgraceful of Freo for them to stab Mark Harvey in the back to get Lyon in the first place, and now karma has ensured we'll never have to suffer through his outdated game plan and grumbling ego again. On the other hand, however, us Eagles fans will now worry about the incoming coach being competent, because that would mean Freo could become a team we'd actually have to take seriously once again.
@@codeword0203 actually underachieved in both those seasons, though, if he was competent Fremantle wouldnt have kicked the 2nd lowest half time score in a Grand Final and he became the first coach in 2015, since 2005 to win a minor premiership and not make the grand final
