They are a band from Rome, Italy. Damiano (vocals, 24), Victoria(bass, 23), Thomas(guitar, 22) and Ethan (drums, 23) They've been playing together since they were teenagers. They've broken out globally after they won Eurovision in 2021 with their hit song Zitti e Buoni( shut up and be good), which led to IWBYS going up in the charts as well. ( and oh yes it also led to this old cover they did as teens on Xfactor Italy going viral on tik tok as well. ( you might have heard of it, it's this song called Beggin)) They've since released a version of iwbys with Iggy Pop, opened for the Rolling Stones, had Tom Morello feature on a recent song of theirs called Gossip. And they featured as an extra track of Dolly Partons rock album. ( with a pretty good version of Jolene) They are one of those bands that tend to be even better (and harder) live than they are on recording.

I actually recorded this a week ago and have been fighting a copyright claim since. In that time, my wife and I have checked out a LOT of their music and their X-Factor appearances. They have a great energy and a unique hard-rock disco sound. Oddly, we heard Beggin and my wife tried telling me it was on the soundtrack to a movie made 15 years ago. I told her it wasn’t possible but the. We realized it was a cover and it all made sense. Thanks for the info. I was surprised that they were Italian until I caught an interview with them all talking about fashion. 🤣

I may add they recorded a fantastic (imho) rendition of "If I can dream" by Elvis for the Baz Luhrmann biopic movie soundtrack...😊

@@ReactionsThatRock yeah, Sony's a pain in the *ss where copyright is concerned. (like, yt even blocked the sound on it when the band themselves recently put up a snippet of one of their latest songs, called Valentine, prior to releasing it) They're pretty much my fave band right now, and I'd love to see you react to more of their songs. the fun part for me is that they can go from dance rock, to harder rock, to slower ballads, and they are good at all of them...

😊❤ love love love them , definitely check the live version in glastonbury it was amazing .. they have sassy songs , masterpieces , darker songs . The full package , the interview with alyson hagendorf that we see on the final screen was so good you would learn how smart they are (😅 so proud of them i can't hide hit)

I'm digging them. They really have a bit of a throw-back feel of rock in the way they present themselves... a bit of that 80's decadence vibe that hair metal did so well but with a modern touch. I'll check out that interview and I'm definitely looking for a daily dose of Maneskin!

Also look/listen to their old italian songs recorded before the fame. Poethic lyrics and much more. Torna a casa (come back home). Translations of the lyrics are available on YT.

they're one of my favourite bands. most of their songs are in english, and their range is incredible. the ones in italian are lyrical masterpieces, and the singer damiano david could honestly be a poet. i'd recommended listening to vent'anni, la paura del buio(the live version) and their eurovision song-zitti e buoni. these are from their 2021 album teatro d'ira vol 1. in january, they released their album rush!, that also has a song featuring tom morello. from that i would recommend listening to baby said, mammamia, read your diary. and from the rush! deluxe version-the driver, trastevere and valentine.

I love hearing that! I often find there are two types of songwriters in rock... ones who could be poets (rare) and ones who just throw words together and rely on a solid guitar riff and chorus to make the song work. I was delighted to see that Maneskin does BOTH! The writing is poetically done, the chorus is catchy as hell (the industry LOVES a solid "hook") and the band can back it all up in their playing. I appreciate the recommendations. Definitely checking them out! Thank!!!

I am definitely here for a new Maneskin journey! I love to see others discovering what I also did in 2021. "Zitti e Buoni" blew me away, and I was immediately hooked. What I like the most about them is that you never know what you're going to get (is it gonna be a sarcastic dance song to get down in the club to? Is it gonna be a heart-wrenching power ballad? The angriest italian poetry you've ever heard? A song to have sex to? All of it in one wild package?) They're a rock band that takes inspiration from several different places and genres, and I think it makes for a fresh new combination. It's an interesting mix of italian classic guitar, brisith rock style, electronic-inspired beats, jazz drumming, grunge vocals and dance rhythms that make up something that feels both familiar and new. Plus, they're super young, so I've seen them improve leaps and bounds in just the two years I've been following them. More than anything, though, what I feel they really bring is an energy and a chemistry that I haven't seen since the 90s. They grew up playing together (and started out doing it in the streets of Rome), and it shows. They feel natural around each other. That, and an European sensibility/edge that I feel is missing in much of mainstream rock nowadays. They're the only young band (formed in 2017, when they were all kids) who have been able to face off the old giants in awards and tours sales, and I think that says something about how they're making rock insteresting again to a generation that grew up mostly uninterested in it, while also appealing to an older generation (I'm a millenial myself), who recognizes and appreciates their influences. And who knows where they'll be in 10, 20 years? I certainly want to be there to watch. Plus: live shows are MIND-BLOWING. I've seen them live twice, and while their recordings are awesome, they're truly AMAZING live. Worth every cent. Check out some of their live stuff and you'll see!

I was honestly blown away to see that they're all in their early 20's! They have a style and skill that feels like they've been doing this for decades! I'm hoping they are able to navigate the music industry in a way that keeps them together as friends because the business is NASTY and producers and agents will happily pit them against each other over royalties, songwriting credits and anything else that could put an extra $5 in the agent's pocket. :-( Can't wait to see more of these guys and I really can't help but feel that this is just the beginning and the best is yet to come!

@@ReactionsThatRock Oh, you're so right. They seem like a strong-minded bunch, so I have faith in these kids. They fired a previous manager who tried to tell them rock would never sell and this exact song you listened to in this video was shit and would never become successful as a single. They pushed back and released it anyway and boom, successful single. I hope they remain as close-knit as they are and as a humble and hungry as when they started. They get a lot of unfair hate in Italy too, for doing their thing and being different, so I only hope they're strong enough to brave through this negativity everywhere and make good music.

@@TheSawjones Great comments, but - well, there's always a but otherwise life would be boring 😄 - I feel that this thing that they are getting a lot of hate in Italy is overblown. It's always the same small bunch of frustrated people, perhaps some even have multiple accounts on social media. But there's a large fan base in Italy too.

I can see the old world Italians not loving them, but it’s the same stuff the old world Americans did to Madonna, Marilyn Manson and even Elvis. People who don’t understand the show are often quick to criticize the show.

Happens everywhere. The more attention a band gets, the more people want to tear them down, too. Just the way of the world. 🤡🌍

Iggy Pop asked them to cover this song so they have a version with him. They just did a cover of 'Jolene' with Dolly Parton. They've opened for The Rolling Stones. Tom Morello plays guitar on 'Gossip' with them. They've also sold out MSG and the Forum.

That's awesome! Definitely a solid tune for Iggy! As for Jolene, I really want to hear it but I also really hate that song, so I may have to let it slide (or it'll be stuck in my head for about 3 months!).

Yeah, "to each their own" is exactly what the song is about. 🙂 Regarding the music, they are very talented; in my opinion you can hear it best in their live studio performances, most recently in a set they performed for the Howard Stern show. I am an older fan and I can relate to what you said about most new music. When I stumbled upon Måneskin a couple of years ago, it was like a breath of fresh air.

You really summed up exactly how I feel. To an old rock guy, their sound is both familiar and brand new at the same time which is insanely refreshing. I’ll be diving deep in to their live shows and whatnot as I’m really blown away so far!

Their first America appearance was on Jimmy Fallon. I looked them right away and downloaded their music. I love them! My main genre has been rock my whole life, but I love checking out new music. He does an interview with Allison Hagendorf, and he pretty much explains his lifestyle. He's very down to earth. He says just one minute before he goes on stage, he puts on a different, I guess personality.

It’s been hard for me to get in to new rock as so much of it is softer than what I prefer, but this band has me hooked! I’ve found they have a RU-vid channel that follows them around the globe on their tour and they seem so happy and excited to live the life they’re living! I’ve meet so many performers who try to pretend they’re the exact same person in private that they are on stage but I love seeing them be honest about putting on a show. Can’t wait to see more!!!
