Hi Sabrina. What a wonderful idea. I had not heard of these. Perfect for the small balls I get left with from the preemie hats and cardigans I make. Can I add another idea for you. When my Mum was in hospital in Preston earlier this year, following a stroke, the ward caught covid and I received a tiny heart in the mail. The voluntary staff there have two matching stuffed hearts. Mum had one and I had one. This was such a lovely gesture and I appreciated it so much. Its about two inches tall and knitted, but could just as easily have been crochet. Slightly stuffed and as I said Mum had the matching one. I was able to keep it on my pocket and keep Mum near always. Thankfully she is all recovered and back home, being the strong independent woman she has always been. 91 years young, wears denim jeans and Queen tshirts, is a great, great grandma and still lives in the house that I grew up in. Super, super proud of her. Thank you so much for this suggestion. I'll definitely be adding some in next time my hospital donation box gets delivered. Take care xxJane

Awww Jane, thank you so much for sharing this with me, it has touched my heart a lot ! Your Mum sounds like my auntie Suzanne, she also wore jeans, and also leather jackets, and all kinds of "modern" things for her age. I really love your idea, with the stuffed hearts. I did something similar with my grandma when she was hospitalised, it wasn't a little stuffed heart but we both had a little toy each, the same one. I will definitely think about these little hearts, thank you so much. I am happy your mum is all recovered now and as independent as before ! She sounds like such an amazing woman ! Oh my, you’ve struck a cord with me on this. All three of my children were premature - 10 and 6 weeks. Wish this was available years ago, I might not have suffered post natal depression. I will most certainly be taking part if the hospital allows. Thanks for sharing your beautiful patterns. X

This is new to me. I haven’t heard of bonding squares. We have pets so unable to donate to hospitals the last time I looked into it. Thank you for sharing your experience.

This is such wonderful thing. I breastfed 4 babies until they were2. The babies definitely know their mothers scent . I love this! And the cardigan you are wearing is very pretty. I hope you are doing well. ❤

Hello lovely Anita ! Awww thank you, I have a playlist for the cardigan that I am wearing as I designed this one, that is if you want to make one of your own ! Yes, scent is so important with newborns and mothers, it helps in so many ways and can benefit lots of new families. Wow all your babies had the best milk possible, that is wonderful ! We don't have a local hospital here. But, I would love to make these and find out where I can donate around here.... I have to crochet.... If I can't donate to anywhere, there are plenty of new mother's.
