that's just how Nikki Sixx does it, and tbh I love it, bass is commonly very underrated, but pieces like the ones of Mötely Crüe and Another One Bites The Dust (by Queen) shows just how much it can provide in terms of awesomeness
The biggest drawback in rock songs is the lack of bass/volume in the sound. This is exactly why you will rarely hear a car with the windows down playing loud rock/metal etc.
