I'am owner of this razor and I'am very satisfied with it. It results in smoot baby shave, no nicks or burns. I really recommend it. Thanks Geo for your fantastic videos. I have learned wet shaving from you Geo, not my dad! 😀 Greetings from Finland.
Just look how this goes swoosh swoosh across his face without clogging up, without having to spend thousands of dollars per year and no irritation. Perfect shave.
You make shaving effortless Geo 👍👍 I fancy adding the R89 Grande to my collection (PS) Still the best shaving channel on RU-vid. Keep up the good work. Andrew from Scotland.
Hi Geo- Great shave and review today; thank you! Everything about the shave seemed to go together just perfectly- really nice job. Take good care and best regards!
Great razor, thanks for the review. I’ve been able to get CCS with this razor even with mediocre soap (Bulldog soap) and without razor burn or nicks. This razor is almost as easy as cartridge. Agree 100% great for beginner like me.
Heloo GFB mate just had my first shave with this razor with a Rapira LUX blade and because I have a coarse multi directional beard and sensitive skin I have to push reasonably hard to get a decent shave . I did the two pass with some buffing as you call it and am very impressed. I might try it with a Feather blade but am a bit concerned as I said I have to apply a reasonable amount of pressure to get to the awkward stuff (old fellow) but I shall try it anyway. I would compare it to the shave I get with my Feather AS-D2 razor which again I find gives me a great shave but I would not say as great as the Muhle after two passes. I agree with the Thayers (mine's the medical pain relief one) too great stuff!! :D
Hej Geofatboy, well both DE89 n R89 are great stonethrows, but fm 1989, now 29yrs old. Jagger seems to be happy with sales, concentrating mainly on appearance changes, Muehle closes the gap btw R89 n R41 with the Rocca, but their new R108 to me is the replacement of R89. It shaves closer and more comfortable. The amberlike handle is the eyecatcher, too. Not sure, whether you've done a video abt the R108 yet... Cheers Achim, Singapore+
Oof, i just brought the simple version and not the grande... I was worried about the size at first, but now I'm sure it's going to be a little too small...
@@geofatboy it came and i already had 2 shaves wit it, the first one was kinda scary, I'm 20 and it was the first time using a safety razor, luckily everything went well, best shaved I've had. Is it okay if I only use alum as an aftershave? I'm not that much into aftershaves or balms. Thanks for the reply and the videos you make!
Well designed but bad materials, mine broke just after four years of use. I really liked this razor, but I'm not going buy one again! REALLY, REALLY disappointed with German materials lately. Thanks for uploading your videos. Regards, Dan George
I'm thinking of buying a Mühle S 81 H 220 SSR shaving set. Do you recommend Mühle? And which blade is the best ? My beard is so strong. For example, I can use Gillette 5 blades only 7 times.
Для двух раз в неделю он предлагает R41, если вдруг для вас еще актуально, спустя 3 года)). Сам думаю какую сейчас брать...вот его сравнительное видео R89 vs R41: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-61ZdQTkx-98.html
Hey Geo. How does this compare to the Edwin Jagger DE89? It looks very similar in terms of the design, and your comments also seemed comparable to when you reviewed the DE89 a while back.
Jagger n Muehle started the head together, produced since 1989. Lateron both used different machines, went slightly different ways. Both razors still are vry similar, but not identical. The stunning looking R108 is the modern version of R89.
Achim Kohlhage that's actually incredibly interesting. It's a shame that craftsmen razors like these have gone out of style in favor of convenience, but I'm glad they're making a comeback. If I ever have a son, I will make sure he knows the ins and outs of shaving.
hi! i just wanted to ask if you would recommend the grande or the normal version?, i bought the grande but im only 16 and my hands arent too large so im worried this razor is gonna be too big for me
Hay Geo I'm new to WS and currently I am using a Merkur Progressive short handle. Its taken me a few shaves to find the setting level for my facial hair but I've settled on 3 for first pass then 2 for 2nd and 3rd pass .. Thing is I come to realize I don't like the short handle and I'm looking for a razor that will provide a shave in that 3 / 2 level but with a longer handel like on this R89 Grande.. Is this razor what I'm looking for or can you recommend one that will fit my need ..
I have always wanted to get a Muhle razor. But I don’t quite understand the ‘open comb’ and ‘closed comb’ thing I have seen in Muhle razor ads. Is it to do with the ‘aggressive’ factor of the razor? Can somebody tell?
The head is the same on the R89, R89 Grande for sure - only difference is the handle. The R89 twist is a two piece, so I'm not sure if it can be completely same, but I guess at least it's pretty much close.
