She basically cussed me out for not being at her concert here in Iowa when she preformed for pride a few years ago and was like you should be here having a ball with us but since you’re not bye ✌️ 😂😂😂 I was so sad and cried my eyes out I was so happy and excited to see and meet her in person cause my friend was doing her makeup so I had backstage passes and was able to meet her and was stuck in Tennessee 😢😢
That's totally understandable though. Because she always had a unique style and vibe and sauce. That still remains today . Hell I enjoyed everything by mya and Brittney Spears too. 89 baby I am. They both always bring a special feeling to back then. I can dig it .
Still wouldn't necessarily classify those as pop persé though. I mean she always respectively stayed in her own lane, regardless of how alternative the beat sounded. Nowhere near Britney which oozed 💯% pop back in those days.
After seeing Mya on the Queens of R&B tour I love her soooo much more. I did not realize how talented she was (silly me) from the vocals, the choreo, the energy and just beautiful inside and out. I had always liked some of her songs but im a much bigger fan now 👑
Mya is the only R&B artist I have consistently listened to since day one. She always dishes out the best quality over anyone else I've heard within the genre and always gives back to her fans in the best way. It does not go unnoticed. Love you queen and thank you for all you do! 💖🤩👑

That voice is STILL magical! Those vocals have always blown me away. Confession: it's something about that beat that's off for me - it's to the point of distraction. Would love to hear this over another beat - something more controlled and less chaotic. Just my opinion 🤷🏽♀
It reminds me of Bobby Caldwell "What You Wont Do For Love", not so much the melody, but the cross between jazz and r&b. That's a jazzy rhythmic beat, which we aren't used to from Mya. Her vocals are usually over hip-hop or a classic r&b cadence. That could be why its throwing u off a bit. Personally, I love this direction. Its fresh, grown and stretches her as an artist. I think a rearranged live version of this featuring live horns, specifically a trumpet (think Bobby Caldwell) would be incredible. ❤ IMHO 😊 Peace & Blessings 🎉
I ❤ the beat with her voice lacing it. It’s eclectic and soulful and jazzy. But I understand what you mean. Maybe It’s for a certain ear? An acquired taste? Like people who like to eat wild game.
