I’m an ex Kiwi from Timaru & arrived in Oz in 1981 via Papua New Guinea. I chose this country because it allows Kiwis far more opportunity to get out & do it for your self which most in this video have done. My daughter & her husband came here from Auckland in 2004, are now Australian residents awaiting their citizenship & their daughter got type 1 diabetes here in 2014 & it costs them thousands of dollars a year for insulin & medial fees, but the plus side is they now own four rental properties & their own home, two very late model 4x4s, & a new small Mazda, & employ 4 tradesmen, & both of them state they don’t care about the medical fees, they came over with enough to buy a car & a small house & worked & saved like crazy, as did I when I came here. All of us agree we would not have done this in NZ & a lot of fellow ex Kiwis feel the same. As the old saying goes, if you don’t like it , leave! And please! There’s enough racial tension in the world, get Maori out of the dialogue, use Kiwi or Australian as do all my Maori & Pakeha now Ozzie mates. Oh, & by they way I’m part Indian & never use my heritage as a race crutch.

Im a Maori who arrived before 2001. I got here in 95. The only differences between Aussies and myself is restrictions from government jobs/ armed forces and I dont get to vote. That's it. But i can change all that by becoming a citizen. What's it like for the after 2001 club?

I'd love it if the rights were the same. I want to study at a university in Australia, but I have to front the cost myself even though they consider me a domestic student because of international relations between our countries, because their HECS don't cover anyone that isn't an Australian Citizen. Yet studylink allows Australians to access our study help by labelling themselves as "Permenant Resident" only. The money might be better, yeah, but unless you're willing to become a citizen or pay for permenant residency, you can't access half of what you should have access to and you have to still pay the costs for those things.

Been here 43 yrs and one thing I've learnt and that's don't trust an Aussie politician their all dogs .

I arrived 2000 from NZ to Sydney. Came for change of work ethics and life style, sister and brother in laws help Got a job brought a car all in a space of a month im happy with where i am.

It's same for all nationalities within Australia to get permanent residence in order to access government benefit. So get your residency or go back to nz for kiwi benefits.

Why does NZ even give full benefits to aussies? It's so weird. You should be looking after your own citizens. Why should we give special considerations to kiwis that come to Australia? Australia has to deal with hundreds of thousands of newly settled immigrants a year through government programs that cost tax payer dollars, and you want to leave the social safety net of New Zealand to come across the ditch to find yourselves, and expect us to pay for your contiki tours? The simple resolution to your issues is to become an Australian citizen. I know you hate us and you have some sort of weird inferiority complex, but unless you're willing to be a part of Australia I don't care if you can't claim benefits. [Edit] We still have you in our constitution if want to become the sixth state of Australia if you need our money that desperately. The transition will be seamless on our end.
