Māori have been singled out for "special treatment" in the Māori wards...but is that really the case? Te Rina Kowhai heads to Te Tai Tokerau to meet with the far north mayor Moko Tepania and local councillors.
Ts unfortunate the colonial settlers who drafted the treaty didn't include them - that's a problem you have to discuss W crown representatives. What's done was done, you have to learn to accept it. Isn't that's what Maori are told anyways?
95% Māori Home Land Stolen and Atlas Network & the ol Colonial Grifters are back out for everything they can swindle. Kia Kaha Whanau. Kotahitanga. Matike Mai
Funny how Māori land is used for all towns in NZ yet they don’t want Māori to be heard like the treaty agreed too. Maybe the only way to get democracy is to start charging entry to all landmark land Māori have shared with councils since treaty settlements. Pretty sure will be a seat at the table when that happens.
I reckon about time it’s been spoken out why moari wards position with councils has been established letting these colonies know the true facts of it kiaora
@@logicalanswer3529How thick are you Maori land was taken to build there towns no compensation then they needed more land for their water supply all taken
All the wards are democratically elected ! So should this be . Maori should demonstrate to the public their worth and will be democratically elected . Misinformation that only Maori wards are being singled out . The others are all democratically elected so make sure you do not misinform . There are 33 MP ‘s who have been elected in parliament who are Maori ! They were democratically elected .
Agree, we should box for the seats both Maori and general so we earn it instead of relying on votes. How lazy to get your seat only by virtue of voting.
We have a representative democracy not a participatory democracy these wards are imperative to have an Indigenous representation it's not about majoritarism that not a democracy that the terrany of the majority
@@glendagger5003 nah they simply not for the moari people at all spinning tis democracy on moari having nothing to do with pledged rights to moari it’s like unlawfully taking something from someone who has receipts (contract)of ownership if a contract is honoured that is democracy
Ok, have a referendum on Maori wards, if they are voted in, cool 😎 But if they are not.......... Still keep your Maori ward councillors....... but pay them with Maori money from pay outs and Iwi owned business etc and fund all their ideas with Maori money. Thats fair...... you still get ya place at the table, a voice and still get to "help your people". But they won't wanna do that for a long list of excuses of why they cant!
Maori should stand for the wards like everybody, I don’t see the problem . The benefit has been touted but can we have details as to how this helps other than being on boards and paid for being there . Nothing productive , just words !
