The worse decision that WT has made is changing the rules so that a touch to the head can score. Why? I get that they were encouraging athletes to go for the head more, but it is hurting the sport.
Too many clinches with each fighter trying to wrap an ax kick over the head. What happened to actually throwing an ax kick and knocking down the opponent like Jung Kuk Yun?
There needs to be a way to measure impact strength. Touch fighting is the reason why European swordsmanship turned into sport fencing and a complete joke.
Further more no lateral movement no circular stepping no combinations, i mean some one tell me why they stand in kicking range and no fakes and why on earth are they not use it there back foot, very curious to see if these young cats would survive 15 years ago
The issue is it seems obvious that Taekwondo as a technical combat art was based on power generation that involved centrifugal force of the body in order to help with that power generation. When you score points based on touch fighting there's no need for power generation. In my opinion I think Taekwondo rules need to be adjusted somehow where power matters.

Занимался WTF ещё в конце 90х - самом начале 200Х г и тогда было всё по другому , тренировался с чемпионами России ( тогда был чемпионат ВС , как мне объясняли ) - было на что смотреть и чему учиться , а не вот это вот всё ......
Well its still better than people having the same height but different weights like a guy can be alot heavier than the guy he fighting then obviously the who's heavier hits harder
no, you can not use the same hit in a fight to tall and small opponent, to the small is too much to spend energy on the tall and besides as the tall has more scope. the only way is. counterattack and reduce the space btw them more as can. and about the feet on the headgear roll on the opposite said and hit. i preacticed kung fu before
the korean lack of Technics; more a twice the tall hit his face with his feet to the head of the small, is easy to contract with a : kick with the heel.( or this kind of hit is not allowed in tawkondon . that is the way to attack a tall adversary
Дураки, сейчас новое тхэквондо победит старое по любым правилам , успокойтесь . Тогда не было никакой тактики просто рубилово, сейчас очень много думать надо, и вообще если говорить о зрелищности может быть тогда и по зрелищнее было, но сейчас явно тхэквондо один из самых красивых видов спорта
