i am from south east asian nation a teacher in developing country when i saw this i feel happy ang yet am cryin.Oh God thank u for the gift of life.you inspire us madam IDA GOD BLESS YOU.
What a touching performance... We should be glad that despite of her age she still ables to share her gift of music. My Highest RESPECT to Ms. Ida Haendel one of my favorite all-time Violinist! Bravo!!!
My favourite violin player and sorry - she is 90 years, playing more marvelous than a lot of tecnicfreascs- and the tone is so from heart. A Genius on violin for all time. An absolute inspiration ! But...also thx. for the other violinists showing their Performance - just wanna say,- that she ( for me ) lives the violin.
Es una ejecución Memorable de la Excelentísima y distinguida Violinista Ida HAENDEL , es una interpretacion con un elevado Nivel Expresivo del Fabuloso Concierto para Violín y Orquesta .
She is and will always be one of the greats. It saddened me the other day to learn that she passed on July 1st 2020. God bless you Ida. Your passion is unmatched.
Her passion to perform regardless of her age only gives a small glimpse at the will of the human spirit. She has a really strong will to still perform and resist criticism and for that, I admire you IDA!!!!!!
Dearest Ida. I only just founds out she passed away ☹️. It’s insane to be able to attempt this concerto approaching her 84th birthday. And in places it is so beautiful. And where it’s not perfect, it’s insanely human and emotional. Much love 😍
This just fills me with tender emotions! Technique can be learned, taught, and lost as one ages. EMOTION cannot be taught and if one has it never loses it. This is just filled with emotion. Lovely.
This is a wonderful performance in so many levels. Ms Haendel is AMAZING and although I am a flutist I am so fortunate to continue to learn and grow as a musician watching her performances and masterclasses. Brava!!!
Her Strad has a problem as per watching her documentary. That's the same strad she owns until now that gave her problem playing when she was playing in Tokyo.
Thanks so much for this, brought memories back of the first time I heard Ms Haendel in concert, playing this concerto in Los Angeles in the late 1970's.
This is a pretty poor performance. If this video were audio only and did not mention Ida Haendel as the violinist, it could be passed off as a child playing in a recital. I'm aware that she was once a great violinist, but she isn't anymore, which is completely reasonable considering her age. However, the fact that so many people here are praising this performance really shows how many people don't pay attention to the music itself, only the person playing it. It's quite sad to see.
cus she is a legit living legend/ former virtuoso. so old age has let her effected her abilities decline from what they were... its normal. and its lame to be the one to focus on it
I'm sorry but this is WAY below her!!! I can see by looking at her that she's not even happy with herself. I don't know… probably just having a bad day because she's capable of so sooo much better than this.
She's nearly 89 in reality when this was recorded. I have access to UK shipping passenger records from 40's and 50"s - numerous entries state her dob as 15/12/1923 - passport check!
This orchestra and conductor are a mess. They seem to fight over tempos the whole time, the intonation is a disaster, and it completely lacks clarity. I'm sad that Ida had to suffer it! Her tone is still incomparable!!
Unfortunate it may be,this performance could be compared to muhammed Ali last fight, should'nt happened.Ida was a brilliant player a few years ago,but this performance leaves her open to unwarranted critisim. That is my view.Maybe a bit sad to see her underperform.Old age always has the upper-hand.
This is terrible. She should have stopped playing in public many years ago. Clearly there's no one in her immediate surroundings who can tell her this.
I would have given anything to hear an old Milstein or Heifetz even if they didn't sound good. this is no different- she was a great and people still want to see her play no matter what.
terrible performance....many notes were practically out of tune specially at the beginning. so much so that even the orchestra members were looked uncomfortable accompanying her...... so sorry to say that.......... she is a wonderful virtuoso with a brilliant career behind her but MAY BE IT'S TIME FOR HER TO QUIT.
Arash Davoodi Ms. Haendel giving them life long lesson to all of us. Sure, we can listen to cleanly sharp technically perfect performance from young violinists. But that doesn't mean we all prefer technically perfect performance over everything. Through my experience, music can only mature through age. She has thorough understanding of the piece. If no one wanted to see her playing, why would audience bother to come to her concerts? They still want to hear her playing, and I am one of them. You really gotta listen to her Enescu in recent years. Magnificent.
AArash Davoodi Well, she is almost 84 here and others might have been dead or not able to hold urine but she plays octaves, decimes, fast scales etc. yes sometimes out of tune but still there are amazing moments for which it is worth to listen... And the orchestra is WAAAY worse than her btw...
