Me, too. The period instruments are very subtle. Use earbuds to hear softer notes and tones. Veronica Skuplik and the other violinist captured lightning in a bottle in this performance. Psaltery Elizabeth Seitz is great-they all were.
I come back to this video every few months. I don't even listen to a lot of Baroque music, but I love this intensely. It's filled with so much joy, I never get tired of hearing it. I wish that so many people didn't have negative associations with Baroque and classical music, like thinking it's boring, or it reminds them of church, etc. I wish it were easier for people to feel/hear the beauty in stuff like this, instead of just slapping a label on it and moving on.
The amazing thing about this fabulous performance is that it seems Cazzati's beautiful piece gradually takes on a life of its very own; which the musicians themselves suddenly enjoy and recognise, and then get pulled along by its persuasive magic. WONDERFUL!!!
Cazatti gets credit around 1660. Have heard the violin call and response interplay phrases used by Corelli, Becker, Buxtehude. Lovely. Listening to this is always wonderful.
Grazie
There are times in life when we catch lightening in a bottle. These musicians will always have this glorious performance, when many hands and minds worked so harmoniously together to play music composed almost 400 years ago (!).
Absolutamente magnificente!!! Gracias L´Arpeggiata, hermoso grupo, hermosos y virtuosos ejecutantes, música celestial !!!!
This song is reminiscent of so many other Baroque tunes, particularly Zefiro Torne, but for some reason, for some this song and the consort's renditon utterly capitivated me to the point I had to leave a comment.
Sencillamente maravillosa.
Half a dozen of people, lot of them beautiful women, making beautiful music on beautiful instruments. This is what perfection looks and sounds like like!
I am in love with Elizabeth Seitz on the psalterion. She coaxes the music out of the wire like a sorceress! And followed by Brono Cocset's (sp??) cello... Holy God- this is wonderful.
Listen to this with headphones, noise cancelling if possible. If i live another 50 years i'll never grow tired of this or be able to say enough wonderful things about this performance! I doubt this will be preserved as it should, and as bitter as that is, it makes every listening that much sweeter!
Yes! Earbuds/headphones make subtleties clearer. Wonderful arrangement with great musicians. Have listened many dozens of times, find new delights. I'm grateful to each of them.
Discovered this a few days ago. Have listened many dozens of times. Virtuosity of musicians is tremendous. Arrangement is impeccable. Love the violin interplay. Thanks to all who brought such joy to us.
