As i understand from one of his close relatives that this song was composed on the same night after listening to Begum Parveen Sulthana in ragam Bageshri in Mumbai and sang this song the next day during his concert at the same venue!!! Great composition.
yes there may be a chance for confussion beacause of the usage " sree Padmanabha" as it is the mudra of Swathi thirunal maharaja, but it is written and composed by great M.D Ramanathan...The most beautiful krithi which express the whole beauty of Bageshri..
Varada Dasa is The great MDR's mudhra which comes in the charanam . and the beautiful Bhaga Shri Bhoomi sahithudayu velaya is so beautifuul there in the anupallvi bringing the ragam name with a lot of meaning too.
@@vishnunivasam4451. Sorry. This was not composed by Swati Tirunal. It was composed by Sri M. D. Ramanathan. It has the signature "varadasa" in honor of his guru, Sri Tiger Varadhacharair.
As per my knowledge (just a listener) this is the composition of Sri. MDR. Whereas, the usage "Sree Padmanabha" which could be the reason that make the listeners in doubt whether it is belong to Mahaaraaja Swaathi Thirunaal. It is rare to listen that the composer is presenting himself/herself their composition.(If anything is wrong pl correct me). Whatever, this is a Great song! Hounding me always and I listen this whenever I can.Thanks for uploading.
True in general. But there are many exceptions. MDR frequently sang "Hariyum haranum ... " GNB has sung "Radha samedha ... " in many concerts. Santhanam frequently sang his hindolam composition on Chanda Sekara Saraswathi, as also his thillana in Basant Bahar etc.
Can anyone explain to a westerner what is happening when the vocalist is making a rough sound like coughing/growling/throat-clearing? Is this intentional? I don’t think I’ve ever heard it in any kind of music before.
Sir, I agree that it is a bit difficult to explain this. Normally, the vocalist uses these effects to get through to micro-manage the desired scale and pitch. It is not intentional, though.
The voice of MDR is like that, he proved those days rough voice is not detrimental to prove to be a good singer. He had high depth and knowledge in carnatic concerts.
