I believe I have found the handgun that I've been looking for. I've been researching compact handguns with an external safety that aren't complicated to take down and clean. After watching your video, I can honestly say "I love what I see!" Now I'm going to go check it out in person. Thank you so much for this video! It was extremely helpful and greatly appreciated!
Love the MP 22 Compact. What a nice pistol that is easy to break down and clean. Way easier to break down compared to my ruger mk ii pistols, I'm glad it has the slide hold open last shot feature and a fixed barrel. Threaded is a plus - now I'm hoping Illinois will finally allow suppressors in the state.
I just bought the M&P 22 Compact but mine does not have a threaded barrel. I was looking for the SR22 but my Cabela's didn't have that Ruger model on hand but had this on sale. A friend has the same thing with the threaded barrel so I knew he thought it was a nice little gun. I took it to the range yesterday, ran 120 Golden bullets through it with fantastic results. It's a very fun gun to shoot.
Thanks the the good review. Nice fun to shoot little gun. American made and good customer support. If you like to shoot 22 this gun fits the bill for the whole family. Light and easy to rack slide and easy to maintain. Wife and kids will love it. So will Dad.😄🔫🇺🇸
I blacked out the graphics on the slide with a Birchwood Casey Super Black pen. I found them distracting from the look of the pistol. Worked great and looks less like an older Taurus now. Also a daub of neon orange nail polish on the front sight dot helped me pick that up quicker. I am ordering a fiber optic front for it next. Good handgun.
Have to correct you on the video. The M&P22 compact isn't fully ambidextrous. The full size M&P22 is closest to being ambi with exception to the mag release. The compact doesn't have a slide lock on the right side (see 8:32 ). I have a used full size M&P22 pistol and it has safeties and slide locks on both sides. Most of us lefties just use our trigger finger for the mag release, but some including me usually have to switch hands to do the slide lock. The full size model was made by Walther which does ambi controls on most of their pistols. The Compact is made in Massachusetts. If it is like its bigger brother then it will shoot very well.
I know it's 2020 but I just bought this pistol in all FDE color and boy is it accurate and shoots any kind of ammo and I mean any kind of .22LR bulk or not ammo without any hiccups but when I did shoot mine the first time I did have only 2 misfires then after that it has run FLAWLESSLY every time !! I shoot Remington Golden bullets round lead which does get it rather dirty but my jacketed HP in Winchester bulk what everybody calls white trash it just eats that stuff up !!!! So I wouldn't hesitate at all to use this pistol for home defense or a carry gun !!!
Hey there: I don't watch very many of these sorts of videos but you did a great job! Very informative and helpful. I've got a S&W M&P 9c and I'll be grabbing one of these asap.
Very nice review. I' ve shot one and loved it. I cant own one where I live, due to the evil threaded barrel. Im really wish Smith n Wesson would make a non threaded version. Ruger has both versions in the SR 22. I have the Ruger, but would Love to own the S&W.
All being similar Between the walther tear down and reassembly sucks (especially with a suppressor tip) The sr22 flimsy spring as well M&p take down is #1 with a bullet!
Hey GearTester, you asked that S&W offer this pistol with fixed sights and no manual safety? Well, get you hands on a Walther PPQ M2 .22 and enjoy! A phenonenal handgun, deadly accurate and digests even the grungiest of old ammo. But to be fair, I also just ordered an M&P 22 Compact, hence my catching your review.....
The 22c isn't picky at all...It has cycled every round I've put through it. Shitty Thunderbolts, Winchester white box, CCI(several types), All the Federal stuff, Win superX standard, high and hypervelocity, Agulia subsonic & high velocity, Rem Golden bullets and the only fail it had was a fte on a CCI quiet round which was expected. I have the suppressor ready model which the only difference is mine came with a thread adapter(which you have to remove to break it down) and an adapter wrench.
I just bought this pistol in all FDE color and first shots I had 2 only misfires after that runs every time but the key to that is keeping the pistol cleaned and lubed after every day at the range no matter how many rds shot !!!! I usually shoot 200 or 300 rds each time out !!!!
TheGearTester - I read the reviews and saw 3 review about that problem. but thanks for the information I will go to academy right now and buy the gun is on sale for $270.00.
It's more so to keep you from dry firing the gun as often. It's not really good for the gun on the 22's, unlike others where it doesn't really effect them much anymore.
Sr22 pistol is the best 22 pistol on the market as far as polymer pistols! The S&w compact as the full size looks like its a stricker fired but its a hammer fired with out an exposed hammer which I cant stand because I like shooting SA or DA. The S&W doesnt give you this option!
