Just such lovely and wonderful well crafted ghostly stories to listen to! Also the actors reading these radio dramas are just the very BEST.

I agree with @ clayvegas (below), the m.r.james radio drama's made by the BBC are top rate. up there with the Beeb's Christie/ Doyle drama's.

Thanks again for uploading these. This one is perhaps her best 'realization', tho' I have enjoyed all of them. Though James, as a Victorian man, may have had some objections to women at Cambridge in early days, there is no evidence he had any misogynistic tendencies. Interestingly, his first artist (Ghost Stories of an Antiquary) James McBride, was a particular young friend of his, who he even took one of his bicycle tours with. So this show utilizes this for its main character. McBride died suddenly and young, and from that point on M.R. took on the role of advisor, protector, and Godfather to McBride's young wife and daughter till the end of his life. In fact, it was for this daughter, James wrote his little known and marvelous children's fantasy, The Five Jars. While not strictly a 'ghost' story, it has suspenseful elements and impish humor, well worth any adult's time to read!
