Finally someone who gives better advice than "sell your Intel and get M1!" If you've been using your Macs for browsing and RU-vid and think switching to M1 will suddenly make you a video-editor, then go ahead. Make your dreams come true. Otherwise, most people who are buying Macs these days don't even know what's inside. These are the same iPhone users who don't even know what A14 is.

When you combine the power and battery performance, I don’t think the m1 really has any equal anywhere near its price point at this time. I love AMD but I know where I’m putting my money. At this price point, the battery performance alone is worth it. Everything else is gravy. I agree completely with your take. No one walking into a Apple store and purchasing a Mac Air will be taking it home and editing Final Cut for 4 hours. I would venture a guess most people who purchased a intel Mac will never know the m1 exists. They will continue happily using it until they decide to buy a new on. This is the first take that address who the MacBook Air is actually intended. .

But the comparison of the cameras... firstly, can't really notice the difference between camera quality. Secondly, is the mic in the Intel MBA really that bad??

you can still control the backlight level ! it was just transferred to the control center ☺️

if you want to regain the function of the brightness adjustment keys, you can use karabiner elements and change the launchpad and DND keys to be brightness down and brightness up. works pretty seamlessly

not sure if anyone mentioned, but in Big Sur there is now a desktop shortcut to Control Center for things like screen brightness, so the "F" buttons would be redundant for these simple adjustments.

More integrated circuits bring more performance. Like your phone, CPU+GPU in one chip is the right architecture for personal device now.

This is a helpful video. I'm looking to buy my 1st ever macbook and do a medium level of programming (cloud, python, tensorflow) apart from browsing, netflix, excel, etc. I love the new macbook m1, and almost seems too good to be true. I'm not sure what the right choice is for me- should i go for intel 2020 i7 vs macbook m1 7 cores.

If you love your laptop, that is all that matters. Love your approach. Hope people keep their laptops for more years and avoid e-waste. I still love my 7 year old Lenovo and 3 year old MacBook Air. They work just like new, have their batteries in solid condition and are utterly reliable.

Dayo. Nice video. I ordered the MacBook Air in base configuration. Since For me the M1 is perfect. I don’t game or do video editing. For how I’ll use my 💻 it more than enough machine for me. With the ability to run iOS apps it was a no brainer for me to order it. That being said if I’d brought the early 2020 edition, I’d like think I’d avoid FOMO or regret 😅

I have the MacBook Air with the i5 processor and is definitely bad. The fan is blowing like crazy in a zoom call, the battery lasts at most for 6/7 hours. When on zoom only about 4 hours. It looks that the i5 processor and fan are not friends. I am definitely going to upgrade. Thanks for the video

As of right now, Apple has yet to launch the m1 macbook in my country so is it wise to get the intel version or just wait a little longer for the m1?

i got my intel i5 macbook air in april 2020 when the lockdown hit and i needed a good computer badly for work - when M1 dropped i wished i had waited but looking back, i couldn’t have because the intel got me through a looot of work that i wouldn’t have had i not had a proper computer at the time 😊

I love MacOS BUT also need Windows. After mucking around M1, Parallels, etc I have settled with Intel MacBook Pro with dedicated graphics card. If you plan to use anything on windows, do yourself a favour and stay away from M1. As such intel MacBooks are pretty fast for my use - Photoshop, Web, Etc.

I just picked up the i3 2020 from Best Buy open box for 700 total. Its a great device, for the casual user. I am not a casual user, but this is my casual device. Im still tempted to get the M1, but don't wanna spend the extra doe for it. Still on the fence tho. Oh, and as of now, I don't believe the M1 can dual boot windows via bootcamp, so this is a good solution for me... I guess... idk I'm so torn lol

I just bought a refurbished I5 mac air from 2020 that I'm convinced was sold by someone who just HAD to have the new M1 or M2, and I just want to thank them for the huge discount I got because at the end of the day I guarantee we are both having the same experience.

As someone who recently bought a M1 MBA to replace my MBA Intel, the fan issue alone was worth the price of upgrading. I’m so used to the silence of my iPad, which I use most of the time time, that the loud fan (and it is loud) of the Intel is very noticeable and annoying. The good thing is now that the M2 is out, the M1 can be found for around $800, and the Intel still has good resell value, especially to those who want the ability to boot camp Windows. Side note to those who do - if you need Windows, if you’re patient you can find a 2012 MBA Intel for $100 or less and it runs W10 better than a PC.

To my eyes on smaller preview Intel web camera looks way better. Great colors no yellow hue and sharpens is the same. M1 is brighter. In worse lighting condition M1 do better job but worse is bad bandwidth you get during videocalls 😂. Pixelated sh.... haha That is probably reason not many producers put HD cam there.

I know it’s been a year since you said apple isn’t gonna cannibalize existing intel MB owners but unless your mba can be repaired and in my case my 2019 i5 128 GB 8 Gb was fully repaired shipped back and was lost by FedEx and apple gave me no options for a intel replacement offering 2020 m1 256 8gb instead and while I was waiting for my 2019 that took weeks to get FedEx to admit they lost it…my 2020 i3 256 type c port literally melted while fast charging 96w and backing up time machine around 85 GB and apple would not replace it with any intel 2020 MBA only M1 so yeah no more intel ever again apple hates royalties so TSMC might as well do that as well TSMC a almost a one stop shop for apple another MIT student turning nothing into billions and only pays college grads 1300$ A month… only 75 years to pay that loan off smh personally I think every tech billionaire company should pay their employees student loans and if you give them 6-8 years of your life and knowledge they have to pay the rest the higher degree the less amount of years of labor to qualify for full student loan relief
