@@kevstreet6710 yes that’ll do. When i went to college 10 years ago…laptops would max out ram to 8gb around there…and i did just fine in all computer science classes.

@@kevstreet6710 What's your focus area? For 90% of all people, the 8GB version is enough. Even for programmers. But you can also learn programming with a really cheap Windows laptop. And use the full Visual Studio, which is great, and not available for Mac. If that is not important and money is no issue, the 16gb m2 air will be great. I love the M1 Air (as a programmer).

All I can think about is how smudgy and scratch-prone the Midnight color will get over time...some of the demo units from the event already have noticeable scratching around the USB-C ports...As cool as it looks, I think I might stick with space gray or go with Starlight

Really the reason that the Touch Bar kept crashing was the t2 on the intel macs. Not the touch bar itself being bad. Now that Apple is using M series chips the Touch Bar deserves more attention

4:48 You should also mention that because the pins are attached to the charger you don't have the option of the 3 pin (with ground/earth) cable making it double insulated only and would potentially give you the tingles/shocks and hums so the standard chargers are still better because they allow you to remove that awful 2 pin adaptor and add the 3 pin extension cord and no one seems to realise that and see it as a 'normal' charger also the different USB PD profiles and what those chargers will also be able to charge in terms of other usb-c devices you have around, quite important information but then again seems no one knows/cares about.

The M1 Air is still a good choice for bang for buck. The M2 Air is a good upgrade option if you’re keeping it stock. $1200 is the same price the 128GB 2018 Retina Air with a slow Core Y processor and butterfly keyboard launched for. I think it’s fine for a redesigned model, it bridges the gap between the Pros. To me this takes the place of the 2 port MacBook Pro in the past. It’s a few hundred more but a nice upgrade from the base Air. But if you want 512GB SSD, 16GB RAM and the better GPU, it will be $1700. That’s only $300 less than a identically specced 14in MBP that is faster, has better graphics, has a higher contrast miniLED display, has adaptive 120hz smooth scrolling, dual external monitor support, a HDMI and SD slot, an additional USB-C slot on the other side for dual sided charging or extra peripherals, better speakers, better mic, fans for heavy workloads, and a slightly larger screen with thinner bezels.

The M2 Air at $1700 is basically equal in specs to the 13" M2 Pro. What the Air has is small quality of life improvements, what the Pro has is active cooling and I guess slightly longer battery life. People are saying that a $1700 M2 Pro isn't far off from just getting a 14" Pro, but at its own specific price point, it makes interesting competition with a well-spec Air.

But for the 14 inch, you lose the ultra book feel form factor of the M2 MBA coz its quite abit thicker and heavier and slightly lesser battery life hours. If you’re okie then i think going for the 14 inch seems wise.

What I love about mac is the durability of their products. I am still using my macbook air - 13”, 1.3Ghz, 4GB, 128GB that I bought 2013! I just change the battery last year, I am learning programming now but it works just fine. I kept mine very well and still looking pristine. Although since its almost a decade since I have it, I do think of actually getting a new one. But I don’t know if I should get M1 or M2….

I’ll recommend everyone to but MacBook Pro 14 with M1 Pro chip because it costs approx 1700$ with student discount applied so we get better display more ram more storage and pro performance

In the UK the difference in price between the 16GB 512GB M2 Air and the 16GB 512GB 14" Macbook Pro is only £155 if you compare it to the 10 GPU core M2 Air upgrade which is closer to the 14 GPU cores on the 14" Macbook Pro.

the choice is pretty simple if you are a grounded person. M1 is the best bang for your buck if you are an office worker with some photoshop skills and basic media content creator, you can't beat the price on amazon. I bought 2 basic (7GPU, 8GB, 256GB) to my biz partners and oh! they are so happy with it! (they had a huawei 13, ryzen 5, 512GB and 16RAM) M2 makes no sense for on our case, but if you feel that you need just a little bump on performance, then you better be prepared expending 200 bucks more (at least), but on your daily work, you won't feel that much of a difference.

In Europe, the base Air M2 sits at ~ $1600 (1500 €) which makes the M1 a better deal for most people I think.

In Germany M1 Air with 512GB SSD is 1180€ while M2 Base is 1500€ or 1380€ as a student. At 256GB M1 Air costs only 940€. I don't know which one to buy and I am so annoyed by Apple as the new M2 Air is basically 400€ more expensive (for students).

M1 Macbook Air will be the choice definitely...it's wedge shape is also very very comfortable for typing. And as far as performance is concerned, i think in real work , M2 will not much overperform than M1. M2 is actually overpriced.

I need help choosing please! I’m a photographer/graphic designer and don’t currently have a MacBook. I use my husbands dell laptop which is kind of horrible display-wise and pretty slow. I’m not sure if I should get the MacBook Pro with the M1pro or M1 max chip or get the new M2 air OR the M2 pro? Could someone please recomend me if it's a better option to buy a M1 MacBook Air, against the M2 version this year? I've watching this type of videos for a long time but since I've never had a Mac I can't decide very well; I'm going to start college soon, studying a degree of Computer Science, so I'll do lots of programming. I want my computer to last long, so the doubt is if the M1 is going to give me enough given that it isn't the most recent version; on the other hand I'm skeptical of the price of the M2 one and if it's pros are justified. I don't know but I prefer the USB-C port for charging the Macbook than the MagSafe because I can use power banks to charge it. You can't use that MagSafe using powerbank.

if you like the design and/or color of the M1 model, then I would absolutely say give it a try… Since it’s unlikely we’ll see them come back any time soon, if ever. Unless you specifically want or need one of the new features or the extra processing power, the M1 model is still an amazing laptop, and will likely last you a long time.

Hey Daniel, In one of your recent video you talked about the possibility to see a MacBook Air 15" next year. How most likely this will see the light? I want to change my 15' MacBook Pro from 2018 which I love in term of design but I don't like the new 16" pro, too big, too thick, toooo heavy. I like the new 13.6" air but the screen is a bit small for me. Lastly, do you think if the 15" will be real in 2023 it will came out with the new M3 chip. Thanks

I’ll get my MBA M1 tomorrow. 512 gb, 8ram…. I got it with AppleCare+ and teacher discount for 1438 tax included. I saw that I can get an extra discount because the price dropped in less than 14 day of my purchase, leaving a sweet total of 1361. Should I keep it or return it and get the MBA M2 with the specifications. Thoughts?

I am really disappointed with the “new” MB pro M2. I have a MB pro early 2015 and although it still works fine I will not be able to update when Ventura comes out. So I am looking for a new main MB. I travel a lot and use all of the ports of the MB pro and I love the MagSafe. Also, battery life is vital as I am always on the go. So I was really looking and waiting for the entry level MB pro but this is not what we needed…. So now I face a problem: do I go for the new MB Air M2 (and go dongle all the way) or do I go for the MB pro M1 ….

Man i was really looking forward for m2 macbook air but the price made me disappoint. 1,199 US Dollar is around 93,000 Indian rupees, But apple is about to sell it for 1,19,000 rupees which is around 1,528 US Dollar. Too much.. lost interest already

For anyone that has the M1 mba... Do you get frequently out of memory prompts? It used to happen quite a bit, but has gone away. I wonder if it was an OS bug or common issue with the 8gb ram models

M1 use memory for both (ram and video , thats unified memory), so 8GB maybe its not enofgt for yuo

I use mine only for light work, maybe also youtube watching or listening to music at the same time, so I haven't had any prompts like that so far

Yeah I get that while watching something on safari and I only have 2 tabs opened, it’s really strange because I don’t have anything in the background

I do have a question regarding the M1 Air though, whenever I download a movie to the TV app, it works fine for a day or two, but then once time passes and I want to watch it again (a downloaded movie), the entire TV app freezes completely, it becomes impossible to watch them unless I delete them. Is anyone else having a problem like this?

MacBook Air M2 maxed out is very fast, does not overheat easily, and display quality is better than iPad! Great value. Webcam isn’t great but few laptop computers have good webcams anyway.

I use apple mac pro m1 1tb 10 inch for creating video in 4k for my youtube channel. I think apple on m1 is really great computer. I don't need another computer for years. And in 4-5 years apple maybe create M5, and i will buy it. Your video really good, thank you!😊

Going through a lot of reviews in the past few days and almost everyone unanimously agree that M1 Air is the best value for money. And going by ur video M2 air doesn't seem to be much of upgrade for the higher price. Can someone pls advise if I can go ahead with M1 air or will it get outdated soon .. any suggestion is appreciated 😊

Been using the M1 air absolutely no problems in any way I would say go to the M2 air only if you like the new look otherwise you'd be perfectly fine with the M1

If you haven’t already bought it, if you’re buying a new one and have never had one, m2 maybe better as support will be longer, maybe irrelevantly depnding on how long you want it and it is faster and only £200 more which isn’t huge considering the extra years you will have it for

If you have the ability to spend that extra bit, yes 100% worth the extra cash. But if your budget is very tight, id say just buy the m1 air and upgrade it with 16gb of ram. The performance gains from m2 likely wont be noticeable (depending on your workflow).
