(I'm just guessing but) it was because of her international career, and it is a lot easier to pronounce for English speaking ppl? Correct me if I'm wrong.) Search for Marit Larsen on youtube. She has a wonderful career/band/songs nowadays. She released an album in 2008. From before she has one album and one single as solo artist.

One day, her mother saw Marit playing outside so her mother thought it was nice for Marion to have new friends, and introduced Marion to Marit. They then became best friends, probably because they shared the same interest - music. They participated in many musical projects together since then.
