M39 Armored Utility Vehicle restored with original radial engine

Here we can see an ultra rare M39 Armored Utility Vehicle (AIV). It's basically a turretless M18 Hellcat. Built for the US Army at the end of WW2, it was mainly used during the Korean War.
This restored one, with its original Continental R-975 radial engine was seen during Tanks in Town 2024, in Mons, Belgium.

The M39 was not only used in the Korean war. There is footage from the Ghost Army and they used them together with M3 Halftracks for Sonic deception and used during operation Viersen in Germany . Only because the Ghost Army was declassified since 1996 and In February 2022, members of the Ghost Army were awarded the Congressional Gold Medal, citing their unique and highly distinguished service. The use of this secret Unit and the use of these vehicles is not well known because of that. Your comment is based on Wikipedi 'knowledge'. Good video!!! Do not think I have ever seen an M39 before. Or, if I have, never really paid any attention to it. THANKS!! for just focusing on this vehicle.

The bren gun carrier is questionable enough , as far as how usefull it was , but that thing ? At least the bren gun carrier was small , and manouverable . I take it they didnt build many ? Troops recieving it , probably asked " whats it good for ? " " No , send it back , and give us a Sherman , or an ARV "

Dude, it is basically an stripped down m18 hellcat, able to go 80 km/h! As mentioned in the title, it is an amored utility vehicle, basically providing logistics for the army (ammo carrier, etc). It was not meant for the same roles as the bren gun carrier, so your comparison is not reasonable.
