Great thing I learned the downsides of not having the cellular option early on with the OG 2015 iPad Pro - I found the iPad (or any other tablet for that matter) loses its versatility once you step out of that wifi signal. Sure hotspot is an option but it tears through your phone battery very quickly hence you lose access to an always on connection causing you to constantly miss real time notifications. I hated getting bombarded by dozens of notifications every time I connect to the network so starting with the 2018 iPad Pro, every single iPad I owned is the cellular option. Totally worth it! Another cool thing to note is that only the cellular models have GPS on it meaning you can actually use your iPad for maps navigation if you have the 5G model (using Google maps looks hilarious on a 13inch M4 when navigating because it looks so huge 😂)
Totally agree - most reviewers overlook the benefit of 5G. Used to waste so much time getting connected to WiFi at cafes and airports. Once you’ve had it no going back.
I have used my iPad Pro as my computer for a year now, and have not looked back. I agree, the 13” cellular model is worth the money, as is the Apple Pencil and keyboard. This has been a game changer for me, as I can do absolutely everything on the go. One of my co-workers has one now because of how well it has worked for me. I absolutely love this experience.
I have the same issue with wanting to edit the master slides. You can do if you use the Keynote App, but of course you then have export it back to PowerPoint, as Keynote will not save to OneDrive. Great video.
scripting for this video was top notch. Very eloquently explained. That point you made about the MacBook not even having the cellular option was something I had never considered or even realised so thanks.
@@ZandJ12345 I always wanted the 11' inch ipad pro as my first ipad. when it was release I saw it side by side with the 13". and I'm glad I go for the bigger model. its true that its big if you use it on hands. but after almost 2 months i'm kinda use to it. for me, if you planning to use the ipad as a tablet without the keyboard the 11 inch is the best choice, if you wanted to pair it to a magic keyboard definitely the 13". 11 inch ipad with magic keyboard is kinda weird to me. so small. XD
I find using this ipad as a replacement for a mac as a student to be nearly impossible. Firstly, almost every program available on iPadOS has a big lack of features and functionality when compared to the same apps/programs on a mac. Along with this, even when using the Magic Keyboard, shortcut functionality is severely lacking, its a hit or miss if it works at all and depending on the app you use sometimes it just doesn’t even work with shortcuts, while on a mac it is a consistently smooth experience with every program. One place I found this especially annoying is when trying to type on literally any other writing app besides pages. Word is essentially unusable on ipad, the writing experience is just so broken. Now, this wouldn’t be an issue if using pages for university work was possible. But unfortunately, most professors at my university don’t accept documents typed in pages because either, they are completely unable to open them, the fonts and formatting doesn’t save correctly, or other issues. Apple in its pursuit to be different and exclusive has effectively made their pages program completely obsolete. So, with this, I am completely unable to write papers on my ipad - which is a great amount of the workload im doing. Second, almost every single program in Microsoft 360, although it has an iPadOS app or “equivalent”, are completely unusable in my opinion. Like you mentioned, even in PowerPoint, a program designed for visuals which would be incredible to use on an ipad, lacks functionality and features that mac has. This makes any kind of work with these very important and prominent programs unavailable on an ipad. Even an app like Canva, something that does work well on an ipad, is lacking features and functionality on the ipad version if you compare it to the mac. All of these lacking functionality features make me not even want to use the iPad because it will be buggy and shortcuts wont work well and I wont even be able to access all the features of the programs I paid for! Another thing is that using an ipad basically means you are unable to browse the web with all the desktop features, making large amounts of content and websites completely unavailable and useless on the iPad. Because of this I’ve noticed that with programs like Honorlock, (an online exam proctoring tool) I am unable to start a session at all. This means unless I have a desktop, I am unable to take any of my online exams. You can sometimes get around this by asking the website for permission to use desktop mode, but if a website doesn’t want you to use its desktop version without a computer, you simply wont be able to use it, they will deny the request. There are even more issues ive found but these are the main ones, really wish that instead of making more ipad models they would work on making the ones they have actually functional, especially the pro models because it’s absolutely ridiculous that I cant do any pro level tasks with my pro level capabilities I paid extra for just because the iPads software is terrible.
That’s one of the constraints for me as well, I’ve tried digging into it to find a way to code on it, but seems to not have any great apps for that. Luckily for me my agency just switched over to Wordpress Gutenberg editor where we have css windows for each block. But would be great to be able to use a standalone app as well. Keep me updated if you find any new app or hear something about vs code or nova coming as a native app😁
@@FaizAly I would say superior for many tasks. But, the goal of having only one device I think is the problem. I have many computing devices in my life: watch, phone, iPad, 4 laptops (2 in active use). So, having a device that does many tasks better is great.
I agree with your assessment on the iPad Pro M4. It’s a great device for portability, but has many drawbacks for my workflows. It’s light, compact, super fast but at the end of the day, it can’t do many tasks that my MacBook Pro M2 Max can do.
I think it's the app developers and Apple making so you need to a macbook not to decline mackbook sales but then again you now have the microsoft surface table that runs a complete os
How is video editing on the ipad vs the macbook pro? Considering getting an ipad as my main pc as I already have a corporate thinkpad laptop for my job and a desktop for games. Debating between the pro and the air specifically for video editing capabilities.
I am a sucker for big screens so I prefer my 16-inch MacBook instead. The iPad is really fun though. Btw, you are looking sharp; can easily become a Bollywood actor lol
I’m conflicted myself whether I should just return my iPad Pro and should have gotten a MacBook Pro 16. I’m back in school, but also wanted to use the iPad Pro for language studies(pencil feature) and video editing. But I have a feeling I’m going to regret it when I eventually hit a wall with a certain SW that just can’t run on iPad. Any thoughts?
Will the 5G cellular feature work in southeast Asia (e.g. in Thailand)? I've never had an Apple cellular device and don't know their limitations. Thanks.
You're a graphic designer. What about PhotoShop & inDesign? these programs are not yet available for the M4 iPad. I'm waiting for this this to make my move to the M4.
Great question! So I do use Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. However, since they’re missing some functionalities, I use the Affinity apps which have been working great for me!
Great video! It’s wonderful hearing your experience with the iPad. You are right - it’s ‘almost’ perfect. It still has small hiccups here and there and now I don’t blame iPadOS for that. I blame the app developers who are not utilizing the full potential of the M4 chip
Great video! I’ve been wanting to switch over to an iPad for like 3 years, but I’m afraid that it will limit my workflow. I’m also a graphic designer (work as ux designer & art director). The affinity apps is doable as a replacement of the adobe programs, but Figma is a must for me before I switch over. I also do a lot of coding and would also need either vs code or nova to work on the iPad. What programs are you using on the iPad as a graphics designer?😁
Hi. I want to buy new ipad pro too but i don't know 8 gb ram is enough for luma and 4k60 long videos editing or 16 is required or totally ipad can't and mac will be needed?
So I have a dilemma, MacBook Air 13 in 16gb storage for 900 or iPad Pro 13 in 256gb cellular for 900? I watch a lot of content wondering if MacBook Air could last as long as iPad Pro for that
I was using this Ipad air 4 from 2020 since it was launched. Now to copy my photos and backups from Iphone 15 pro to USB-C is easy. But when I try to open them in ipad air 4, the reading of files from ipad is very very slow. I just want to know how it works on 13" ipad pro M4. Is it really worth an upgrade in my scenario. This is the only problem I have. Rest all functions are good.
I’m a graphic designer and I can’t replace my MacBook Pro with my iPad because of adobe apps not being available on iPadOS, so how do you deal with that issue ?
I really like the silver iPad and want to buy it, but when I watched videos on a silver iPad at the Apple Store, I was concerned about the silver border around the screen, so I am considering it.
2:00 - " More modern"? What the heck's THAT supposed to mean? It's not any different than just using a freakin laptop dude. People really love throwing that word around these days, do y'all. 🤦🏾♂️
😮😮 future proof If ai comes out in 6 months and software and you bought a cheaper version you lose. always buy the best you can afford not save money A ferrari or a Toyota both drive on a road at a speed limit you choose ferrari everytime
Hi there, if you’re considering giving away the iPad Pro, I would be incredibly grateful if you could think of me. As a student, I’m currently using just my phone for all my studies, which has been quite challenging. I’m not financially independent and have a very limited budget, so an iPad would truly make a significant difference in my academic journey. I’ve been subscribed to your channel for a while, watch all your videos, and have liked this one too. Your content really means a lot to me. I completely understand if you have other plans, but your help would mean the world to me. Thank you so much for your consideration.
