Honestly the block II is such a beautiful rifle. So refined and fine tuned, just comes to show how far the M4 platform as a whole has evolved over time.
Ah, this is my jam. Other people may have tech reviews as their cup of tea, but this... this is mine. Your style vibes with me so much dude. Keep it up!
I started with two red dots with my first AR, A Romeo 5 and then 3 yrs later I picked up the romeo 7, as time went by I started updating my AR with free float hard guard a changing handle and then the fun stuff started coming around. I decided to get my first, and as of now, my only suppressor, so I had to give my AR an entire face lift. Then, I ventured into the world of LPVO for some good time. Now that I got into night vision, I learned to always have a backup to aiming in case one day you some how leave your IR laser on for an entire week 😅 So I took off my LPVO and slapped old faithful Romeo 7 and dropped in a clone unity tactical riser mount and matched my romeo7 with its low mount. It's just a red dot but damn.. KISS is a damn real thing . I had forgotten what a light AR felt like.
LOL I think we've all been there with the mods! I have an M16A4 clone-ish that went through something similar where I couldn't decide whether to go with the ACOG/M5 RAS look or the standard handguards/fixed carry handle, so now I have all these spare parts. I think all your extra parts call for another AR ;)
Thats a great setup and good looking rifle. As for the tangodown grips, they come with grip chips, you insert them into each side to press the buttons up. Then you slide it on. They are made for perfectly in spec picatinny rails. I have one on my ris II and it went on smoothly using the grip chips. Just an FYI for anyone wanting a tangodown grip. They also fit well on the KAC ras rails. If you have some other rail, take some sand paper, or a file and take some material off the top of the grip, and it will go on easer.
This and the MK18 feel like home, they’re what I used my entire time in. This is almost a clone, Only difference is basically no one ran back up irons, different light and majority were running EOTECH’s, Ainpoint T2’s or ELCAN’s. That an the LA5
For some reason, the Tango Down VFG’s require you to remove the lower portion of the quad rail to install. That was a big turn off for me, so I went w/ a Magpul AFG2 as you can slide it on and off w/o having to remove the rail.
I agree, one of my favourite tech RU-vidrs shoots videos with a similar style. For years I hoped for a gun channel to try something like this. James, you have earned a sub! Love this style of videos!
Great job on the build. My Block II inspired build Is less "correct" than yours, but I absolutely love it. Can't think of many guns sexier and more durable than an M4A1 with the RIS II rail.
Just FYI the tango down grip comes with a little tool you insert into the holes where those tabs on the grip are and secure them in a downed position to the grip slides onto the rail. I also thought they were too tight to fit till I read the instructions and then it was very easy to install.
I picked up the M4A1 upper from Brownells as well. Great deal tbh. Opted for a Bexar Arms 9310 BCG with Breek Arms Wahammer charging handle, topped with Holosun AEMS + Vortex 3x magnifier. Its M4 Block-ish but I'm very happy with it.
Thanks! Yeah it’s a fine rifle. I took a few month off from shooting it to give my other ARs some love, but I’m already feeling the itch to go back to the M4A1.
The quality😩😩 block II m4s are some of the hottest guns ngl and this is one sick clone. You make awesome entertaining reviews without shooting a single round. What camera do you use?
Thanks so much!! Yeah, gotta get creative when I'm low on ammo haha. The camera is a Canon 77D. I use a Sigma 10-20mm F3.5 lens for the overhead shots and a Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 for the clips of me talking/slow-mo shots.
Aye man that’s a real nice rifle! I also have the exact same accessories in just wondering if the b5 sopmod in coyote brown is clone correct? but I personally still installed it because it just makes a perfect fit. Either way you got yourself a sub.
Yo thanks man! I'm actually not sure if it's clone correct lol but yeah to your point... it looks so good. I've seen some of those older looking M4 buttstocks in black (and the B5 sopmod also in black) too.
“Tiers” I own an sr15s , LMT MRPs And seriously the marginal performance is very unnoticeable you do get cool features with the guns but it’s so insignificant in my opinion. A quality mil spec, colt, Bcm, DD, Geissele is more then enough for average dude who has a high shooting schedule I do dig the rifle, I have basically same setup but elcan peq and RC2 Also bad levers are gay
Dude those are some nice rifles for sure. But yeah haha I agree. Jealous of the RC2! And LOL yeah I liked the BAD lever but one day it dawned on me that it needed to go so I ditched it 😂
Thinking of ditching the lpvo and possibly magnification altogether for just a dot/hws on my m4a1. It's my shtf , but a lil heavy wit the lpvo and adm mount
Oh man, I'm actually considering the opposite haha, but yeah I can totally see why that's really heavy. It's already a beefy gun and then am LPVO/amount would add even more weight. If you end up going the dot/hws route, you'll love it though!
Bro it comes with two little tabs (tango down grip) use them 😂it’s and easy slip in once you get those in and then unscrew the bottom of the Ris 2 to clear the front ring like part , but I love your gun! I know this info is too little too late but just incase lol
@@jamesshoots dude the first time I did one I couldn’t get it cause I didn’t realize you have to drop the front part of the bottom section cause it’s like to far in to let it interface, they’re super hard to move, but if I’m being honest the first time I did it , I didn’t do it with the tabs bro so I was hoping I was gonna pass helpful info but the QD one does go hard
I have the brownells DD block 2 upper. I got a war comp but then wished i got a 3 prong non warcomp as it would be best for suppressor which i want to do. Now 3 prongs are gone and have to wait. Then pin and weld.
Those uppers are like under 7 hundo now! I'm trying to convince myself to pull the trigger on it (pun intended =)....I have a ddm4v7 though...just love these uppers (and the mk18)! Great vid - new sub!
Man I just bought the tango down stubby and mounting it is been impossible because of the lip the daniel defense has around the muzzle. I was gonna bang it with a hammer but I dont want to break it
Dude yeah it’s a real pain, at least for me lol. I took the rail apart to get that clearance. If I were to do it again, I’d get the QD version to make life easier. BUT I know many have mounted it without the QD lever… and lived to tell the tale
@@jamesshoots I though about taking it apart but I dont have a torque screwdriver at this time and all of those need to be cranked to 25 or 30 pnds so Il just keep the stubby and order another one that opens up on the side
@@jamesshoots so quick update I was able to install it no problem. For anyone havind this issue all you have to do is take off the 6 flat screws pull the bottom picatinny install it and screw this together
Hey! The barrel is 14.5" with a pin and welded flash hider to make it 16", which came from DD (it's actually not the WarComp, which has a thread pitch of 1/2-28). The RIS II rail for the M4A1 is 12.25".
10/10 I almost have the same build as your except I have a black ladder rail cover and the XTM Magpul handstop, and I use the Magpul MOE Pistol grip. I use the DD fixed iron sights as my backups and I use the EOTech EXPS3
Where the hell did you get that front knights armament sight I have been looking for about a year for one. I cannot find one in taupe I need one to complete my clone correct mk18
It was a grind trying to find it for sure. I ended up getting it from MidwayUSA - I subscribed to their in-stock notifications and paid full price. These pop up on Gunbroker every now and then too, but I feel you - tough to find. I also have a MK18 build that needs this sight!
Hey, I’m not too sure but your best bet would either to contact your favorite store (online or in-person) and ask them if they have new/older versions. You could try Gunbroker too if the pictures are there, but as you probs know, prices aren’t always the best :/ Love the username btw hahaha
Unfortunately, that was my doing... too impatient to install it properly! But to your points, Knight's Armament has a stubby grip which is all metal/steel/whatever which is solid too.
Handguard is 400$ yeesh. Anyone got recs for a handguard fit for combat? Ik that can literally be any good handguard but i wanna hear some of your guys's shtf handguards
I hated mine. Sold it. Heavy. The gov't profile M4 barrel is useless, outdated, and heavy. Anything with a M4 barrel is joke. Yes, it's sturdy. But that antiquated barrel negates any legitimacy of the M4A1 RIS II. If DD started using their lightweight barrels in this, then it will actually be useful and not a LARP'ers gun.
@@jamesshoots don't sweet dungs comment your video was fine. Thank you for sharing and keep em coming . Nice blaster. I guess dung can show us the video he put out of his DD if we want to watch something that he approves of.
I played next to Anthony Munoz and he was the best ever. Before each game he would eat a big plate of refried beans and then shit on himself. His steaming logs would keep the defenders away and made him slippery.
