The 1 SPOT mA Meter (that’s “milliamp meter” for all you non-engineers), is a simple device for measuring the power consumption of your guitar pedals.
You’re probably used to seeing power supply outputs with ratings like “100mA”, which is the maximum that output can provide for a pedal. And you might have wondered whether it was enough to power your particular pedal(s). The mA Meter answers that question for you by showing exactly how much current your DC powered pedal really needs.
No more scouring the Web for information about your pedals that might not even be accurate. Just plug your pedal into the mA Meter and see for yourself how much power it needs!
And as an added bonus, we’ve even thrown in a cable tester as part of the mA Meter… perfect for those last second cable checks at the gig.

For folks that still don't quite grasp this concept, just remember once you check your pedal(s) you'll need an adapter or power supply that is capable of putting out at least the same amount or MORE current than what the actual mA reading is. Overpowering = OK, wont hurt anything (better!). Underpowering = bad. (Remember we're talking CURRENT, not VOLTAGE here!) To stick with Bob's buffet analogy, its always better to have some uneaten leftovers on the table than to have someone going hungry for Christmas dinner!

I'm going to have to get one of these. For the DL4, would you need to use an adapter cable to run it from a 9V DC spot?

How does this compare to the new Friedman power supply? it puts out 350mA on each slot. I'm debating getting this bc it's been around longer and has 12 spots instead of just 10. Also i've heard lots of good things about the range of the Truetone 1 spots.

@TruetoneFX

On the right side, you plug in a 9v DC, center pin negative, power supply. On the left, you use the provided DC cable to plug into your TS9. Then you will get a reading of what the TS9 draws. Zac

How does reading other voltages work with this device? Manual says it accepts 9V-24V. I have pedals for which the current draw at 9V is published by the manufacturer, but many of them accept up to 24V, and I'd like to get the numbers on current draw for those higher voltages as well. Can the mA meter do that?
@TruetoneFX
@TruetoneFX Год назад
The MA meter can absolutely take 24v. You just need to plug a 24v power supply into it, and then connect your device that can handle 24v.

I have a product suggestion(an accessory to already existing product line). I would like an IEC power cable for your pro power supplies that had a pass through regular ac jack out on the back that would simulate having the courtesy output like on the PP2+. All of the newer power supplies leave the courtesy output out but I power my old 70's AC cord MXR Flanger off of it. Would be handy, I miss that courtesy output.

I was thinking like the plug housing it self would have holes in the back for an additional ac plug type thing.....Like be a right angle plug but the housing part that goes into the iec jack of the OneSpot Pro has a receptical for an ac plug on the back of it...kinda like a pass thru

Wow!! That’s a awesome product! I need one of this! One question.... I have the 1Spot power supply 1700mA. But I think there is something wrong.... it’s powering 6 pedais: TC Electronic Brainwaves, EHX Oceans 11, EHX Canyon, JHS Morning Glory, Friedman Dirty Shirley and Mooer PitchBox (that is almost off all the time). And my EHX Oceans 11 keeps going off and on.... off and on. EHX support said it’s the power supply, not enough mA. When I use their original power supply (200mA) in the Oceans 11 it works fine. Anyway, how can I check how many mA my power supply really delivers? I’m thinking it does not have 1700 mA..... :/

@TruetoneFX

If using the Radial power supply you'll have to reverse the polarity (CYR) going into the mA Meter and reverse it again on the output of the meter to connect to the pedal.

Curiously, in the one spot pro demo, Bob lists the current draw of the line 6 m9 as 350 mAs... so is the mA meter correct?
@TruetoneFX
@TruetoneFX 7 лет назад
350 mA was based on what we thought was accurate information gathered online. Using the our new mA Meter, that we developed over a year after the Pro video was originally made, we found that the Line 6 M9 actually pulls around 550 mA. However, it can easily be powered by the 9v AC output on the CS12, or one of the higher 9v DC mA outputs on either the CS12 or CS7.”

I’ve had my mA meter for less than 1 month and it started to act funny. When I switch voltages around i.e. 9V, 18 or 24V, the mA meter would read mAs when powered on but no pedals were attached. Now, the display wont work but power is going through since the pedal since it turns on. Has anyone else experienced the same thing? Is there a way to reset or calibrate it?

What is the recommended amount of pedals that you should put on a daisy chain? For example I have a true cs7 but I have 8 pedals. 7 are 9v pedals and the other is a Eventide H9. I am only using 6 power inputs because the 7th is 18V 100m as you know. I have 3 pedals daisy chained right now and I get what sounds like a power hum when I really turn up, (which I often have to do as a violinist). Should I be splitting two of the cs7 inputs (basically 2 y adaptors with 4 pedals) instead of one input on three pedals to reduce power hum? Thank you for your feedback in advance.

Doesn’t the pedal have to be “under load” to get an accurate reading? just plugging it in like that without using the pedal and turning the knobs won’t give you an accurate reading, some digital pedals when you turn the knobs on them increase the milliamp draw… 🤔
