This Tomb-Sweeping Day, a ceremony was held to worship the Yellow Emperor, or Huangdi, a revered Chinese ancestor, at Qiaoshan Mountain in Yan'an City. One of the highlights of Thursday's event was the participation of former Kuomintang chairman Ma Ying-jeou, who led a group of students from Taiwan.

this is the peaceful unification process of ppl with exactly same root, but divided over WW2 era ideology. North and South korea requires similar exchanges.

Great that Mr. Mah advocates peaceful & friendliness with the motherland. All Chinese must stay united against all foreign evil forces. Seeing how US is gathering Japan, Korea, Philippines and India to jointly against China. China stay united and be strong. Learn from the Ukraine war how US gathering all countries against Russia!

Taiwan is inextricably linked to China, to deny such, shows either prejudice or ignorance of China's history and culture. No amount of denials will and can change that fact.

What Mr Ma is saying is true and accurate, cos that's what I am practising NOW in Malaysia as a Chinese. The problem is Most overseas Chinese practising Qingming are getting fewer, especially those less than 35yrs old(this is just a guess). Tell me I am wrong. If you are using this cultural practice to bind the Chinese from Mainland and Taiwan, I do think you get much traction. Tell me I am wrong again. BTW I am over 35yrs old.

If same ceremonies and other festivals are held at the same date or time in both Taiwan and China, that clearly shows that their ancestors were both from same country China.

I don't think the word worship is appropriate here. Worship may be what Taiwan or HongKong does on qingming but in mainland I believe it is more of paying respect or day of remembrance. Worshipping suggest that the dead are still alive in a spiritual world and against the fundamental tenets of communism as it embraces a form of superstitious belief, that there is still life after death
