Maaco destroyed my Monte Carlo SS! Not Clickbait I’m heated! 

Bro don't do anything against the law. Years ago I went through the same situation. A company did a lousy job in painting my car. I took it back and asked him to repaint, he denied. So, I went to small claim (civil court) presented my case the judge saw my car and the judge awarded me my entire money plus penalty. Outside the courtroom the guy who did a lousy paint job told me he wasn't going to give me my money. I didn't even flinch because the white judge told the white shop owner to pay the black man his money. I got my MONEY.

That's an $800 paint job all day. I remember when I worked at a Maaco after I graduated college for paint and body. I thought I would have gotten a body or painter position, but they were already filled. They hired me and another guy to mask and detail. I remember a girl brought her newer model Honda Accord to get sprayed. I guess her boyfriend keyed the whole car. When she picked it up she started crying. They used single stage paint on it and it looked terrible. I'm sure she didn't pay nowhere near what you paid

Get a couple of estimates form high end shops to make it right and you should at least get that back. I can't believe they charged 7 grand for that , What a rip off. Just don't blow it off. Ok I'm stressed for you. I've done bodywork, frame repair and paint for over 20 yrs for Cadillac, GMC and hummer. I've even worked for maaco for a time. My advice to anyone. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO MAACO EXPECTING A CUSTOM JOB! All they do is scuff and shoot quality. On a g body I would have removed the side glass and all the molding. The glass rubber fits to tight to not get paint build up to where the paint will end up higher than the glass. The molding will have to be cleaned up with solvents which we all know thinner will destroy soft rubber. They will deteriorate once solvent soaks up in them. A quick wipes fine but those are trashed and will require a lot of clean up. Maaco shops constantly change ownership because of hight franchise fees and lawsuits. Whenever you do a restoration do it in stages. Bodywork first. All of it! The tech should take off anything you don't want paint on. The only thing you can do to this car is take it as is and tell them give you half your money back. Or Have the car media blasted back to bare metal and start over. A straight car in primer look a hell of a lot better than shit body work and prep with shiny paint. The paint only magnify poor prep work. Go to court and file a lawsuit. My advice to remedy this is give you $55hundred back and uses $15 hundred to have it blasted and epoxy primer. And start over. 1.Reconditioned is sanding the car down. That's included in their paint job cost unless the whole car is stripped to bare metal. 2. Bodywork isn't done in any shop until it's ready for paint. 3.for $7k it should have been wet sanded, sealed, painted and buffed.

The only way is to take it to court , 7k is a good reason to take it to court. Anybody can see its in bad condition, I'm sure a judge would say the same thing. Maaco is the worst place to go , your better off going to the chevy dealer it would be about the same price but quality material and some dealership give lifetime warranty on the work unlike maaco with their pro-rated warranty

The online part houses charging all that money then it’s anybody guess when you gonna get it, but they got your money🤔😳 I had a transmission shop do me like that, my foxbody went in for a clutch and i bought it and the parts to them, i guess they didn’t like that cause somebody had been hot rodin my stand and bent the drivers side axle…..it took everything in me not to go back and set their shop on fire!it hurt me because i paid them!…. if you didn’t want to do the job then ok i’ll take it somewhere else, but you deliberately messed up my vehicle……. it’s true that god does suffer fools and babies cause if i didn’t know him, those dudes from that shop would probably be working at autozone today

this was a hard lesson. im sorry you went through it. if its any consolation to you, this just convinced me not to go to maaco. I have an appointment tomorrow to get a quote, but after seeing this, im just not even gonna go. i will find somewhere to paint it myself and i will buy a compressor and a paint gun. you suffered, you paid a lot, your car was damaged. i will not do what you did so it wasn't a total waste.

First of all…. You took your car to Macco…. There isn’t any amount that would lead to a good job from them…. Those guys are trained to give you a just get by paint job…. They have no sense of integrity…. You were better off taking it to a regular paint and body shop…. Maaco isn’t paint and BODY…. They’re just paint; and they not really good at that…. IJS…. I’ve witnessed several homies get their rides literally raped with poor quality…. This should be a lesson learned….

That's a $1,000 job period. That's absolute bull crap. As a guy who is in the industry, that is the kind of paint job you do as a one day wonder on a beat to crap farm truck or dirt track car. Sorry your going through all this kind of fiasco.

Man wtf it's not hard to tape a car up correctly and it's not hard to back tape jam's to keep over spray off the weather strippings, inside the car and under the hood. That's the whole reason you have to back tape. You paid them 7k and It's an 80s Monte Carlo. For that price, just because those are easy cars to strip down before body and paint work. They should've went ahead and removed the glass, door handles, lock cylinders, belt moldings, and the weather strippings. So they can prouduce a nice product for there customer. Even the pinstripes look like sh*t andmy 5 year old daughter could do a better job than that. But honestly I don't see what they spent your 7k on. Im sure that price included the sh*tty labor. But just by looking at the over spray on everything and where they ran the paint around the t top moldings. The paint on your car doesn't look like a 2 stage base coat clear coat. That paint looks more like and I guarantee a single stage paint. A gallon of white single stage along with the harder doesn't cost more than $150.00 and im pushing it at that. For 7k they should've painted your car with a 2 stage base coat clear coat. With the paint, the primer, the sand paper and the filler they have maybe $500 worth of materials in your car. All they did was use cheap material so they can keep cost down and rush your car out the door. Hoping to take you for a fool and get your 7k homie. If i ever tried to pull that with a customer car. I would quit my trade because I would be to embarrassed to show my face. I don't understand why a shop would even do that. Because those cars are rolling billboards for shops. The cars are what brings you or cost you work, because of word of mouth. I hate you have to deal with that bs homie.

Now idk what you paid yet. But recon i would think is sanding out chips, maybe machine sanding the surface. Body word is fixing dents, hole, welding in steel patches - beyond macco. but Thats what i see from those terms. i haven't seen the car before/after. But macco exaggerates what they can do for the price. If you tape around door locks, handles, mirrors these are points where the paint can eventually peal. removing door hardware, headlights, tailights etc takes time and costs more money. Idk rather they were honest and explained what the expected results really are. Then you know what your getting and the customer is happy instead of pissed.

I’ve dealt with Macco with some of my paint jobs in order to get a $699 paint job u have to do all the work sanding taping it up all that but still end up with overspray everywhere! They outta be ashamed of charging 7 racks! Being a car person period we will notice any type of flaws Their all way wrong that’s also why I never paid for top notch paint through them. And of course their all good with recording when it’s all good but now there’s a problem when ur calling them out. U handled it very well I just wished u we’re giving the correct information before considering them especially paying that much…. 🤦🏽‍♀️

thats going to be a pia to get that overspray off! I remove the rubber moldings so they dont get ruined like that. They didnt even mask right and sprayed anyway. Those rear side windows have to be removed to paint around them the right way.

I'm annoyed along with you. I've been dealing with this in a way for years. I've had at least 100 people come to me after getting work from low level tech's. if they didn't do it right the first time they are not going to do it right, when it comes back.
