Hello! Could you please share your experience - How did you book the ferry to islands? As I trying to reach out the guest house, but they do not answer me.. they just need to know that we will come, or they need to make a reservation on their end?
Hello, of course. In the Maldives, we always asked our accommodation to book the transfer for us. When we arrived at the meeting point, our names was on their reservation sheet. For paiement, we always paid our accommodation.
Hey! Thank you for your insight! Can you say anything about the amount of cash you need and which currency? Do you need USD and can you use them or do you need to exchange some money for the local currency as well? And how much would recommend for one person? And do you know if there are any discounts for kids (under 14) when you go on a shark trip or when you go snorkeling with whale sharks?
Hey, our 6-day stay in the Maldives for two cost us around 1450 euros (Maafushi and Dhigurah) without the international flight. By starting in Maafushi, we could lover it to 1220 euros (that's by paying with card, if you bring only cash, you would save some more as you won't have banking fees). USD is the most accepted currency in the Maldives. Most of payement are made using USD. We exchange 50 euros for the local currency in order to buy snacks in supermarkets on Dhigurah. The rest was done using a card. For one person, I suppose it would drop to around 1000 euros for 6 days. After it will depends on what attractions and tours you will be doing. Sorry, we do not know if there are any discounts for kids. We have a few pictures of tours but it only mentioned a price per person.
What was the price for the excursion to nanny shark and also for wheil shark and manta? Could you tell the price both (if you remember) on Maafushi and on Digurah? Thank you!
Nurse sharks (And Stingrays) excursion from Maafushi : 60 USD per person, 75 USD per person with Shipwreck. Nurse sharks (And Stingrays) excursion from Dhigurah : 150-200 USD per person Whale shark (And Manta) excursion from Maafushi : 100 USD per person Whale shark (And Manta) excursion from Dhigurah : 150 USD per person
Well the Maldives was a side trip. Our main destination was Sri-Lanka for 2 weeks. We just popped by the Maldives on the way. After, the point is that you can make a trip for the Maldives and really enjoy without having to spend 1000+ USD per night.
Yes, ferries are speedboat. The easiest way to get them is through your accommodation They can organise everything without charging you more than the real cost.
Value for money wasn't good. Black mold in the bathroom, communication after checkout terrible, tour organisation not really great. Those are some of the reasons.
