I picked up two of this family (non-locking flex comfort grip 1/4 and 3/8) and put them to work pretty hard. Very nice, and if the snap-on Dual80 didn’t exist I’d say the Mac is the best. But I can’t give up the snap-on. Plus; there are several configurations available from s/o that no one else offers. I’ve got 31 different snap-on ratchets .
Good review. I bought a Mac axis ratchet in 3/8 drive, 9" long and no flex head, to replace an equivalent Snap-on that I either lost or had stolen from me. In my opinion the Mac ratchet didn't feel as smooth as the Snap-on dual 80, despite more teeth, and was noticeably louder. Minor things yes, but I found myself switching back to Snap-on for my ratchets. I'm glad I gave the Mac a try though. It is also a great ratchet and damn it looks great too. I'm glad it's made in USA. I may consider another one.
I have Qty(3) 3/8 drive Mac Axis Ratchets. One 13 inch flex head and the other one bent handle flex head both with the comfort grip aka Sissy Grips. LOL!!! The third one is the 13 inch long standard non flex head chrome handle. I love them all. Very strong ratchets. Thank for your review sir. 😎
I got the regular flex head 3/8 Axis and a 1/2" Axis locking flex head, they're pretty stout ratchets and give you plenty of confidence you'll break the bolt and not the tool! Midwest Tool Reviews aka James recently trade me a 1/4" drive Blue Point *stamped* indexing ratchet. I believe the ratchet was made in Taiwan by SRC which may come out to Superior Ratchet Company in around 2002-2005 id guess. Matco has a indexing ratchet now also in 1/4" drive, I think the chrome handle 1/4" drive style is really nice for how small and tight of a tool it is to do its job. I really enjoy your videos man!
You don’t need to lock it to use it as a speed handle. That’s just not a feature that’s useful. It’s a shame they are out of stock in the loNiger 18” I might just need to get the craftsman v series 3 pack for 170
Old school mechanic here, the gearwrench 3/8 locking flex head comfort grip is alot better in handling and the locking mechanism is better than the Mactool 3/8 locking flex head comfort drive ratchet. But hay that just my opinion.
