I broke up with my 5-year ex more than a year ago, but it was on good terms and she's an amazing person. Theres a real sense of sadness behind this song. Whoever the significant other was, they mustve meant a hell of a lot to mac. That promise he made to them must have been serious. Because its killing him that his commitment wont let him move on.

I loved her at first, she was very supportive of me, but she left me in my absolute worst times as our families didn't agree on our relationship (Indian problems). I held on but she didn't. imo the picture fits perfectly for me, i always interpreted it metaphorically as a couple back in the old days (afros, outfit) having fun and just being happy. However i believe the song is about something deeper, how these happy days are gone and that they both fell out of love with one another. This picture makes you feel reminiscent and sad thinking about the 'old' days and how much happier you both were when you first started hanging out together. Or I'm just being too deep lol

Lukmanul Hakim Mac Ayres is super unique, he puts some kind of over compressed filter and his voice magically transports you to a late night lounge. Its going to be difficult finding the same thing. But Honne has a few songs like “Woman” and “The Night” that have a similar feel. I like their older stuff as most of the Honne songs especially of late tend to be faster pace and have more electronic elements. Honne has an acoustic version of “I can give you heaven” that is worth listening to.
