he uses it quite "ironically" I'd say, objectively sounds like a mosquito lol but yeah he's exaggerating his vibrato, however his guitar skills are better than what I expected when I first heard him, even his voice is better than what it seems, he sings very effortlessly most of the time
also in case you haven't seen this song but with professional audio and video I'll leave it here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_n1UdLAwUzQ.html
@@artificialplanet1540 The only part that sounds a bit like a mosquito is when he uses the whammy bar towards the end. Other than that the playing is flawless with perfect timing and soul. I've been playing guitar for 25 years so I know exactly what good guitar playing is. I actually prefer Mac's lead playing over his lead guitar player from what I've seen so far. He is way better than what I expected!
@@danlovepeaceunity he lives the world of irony. It's corny to be authentically into what you do, so he goes the other way of making fun of himself. Therefore showing that he cares and he doesnt care. Instead of being authentic he is being sarcastically authentic therefore saving himself from ridicule.
@@SJW-bi1hh not really, soloing isnt always about playing as many notes as you can, DeMarco is a pro guitar player by definition. Music aint a pissing contest it's art
@@SJW-bi1hh there isn't really a "professional standard" in guitar playing ability. A pro musician is more defined by their gear and sound, consistency playing their material, than technical ability.
@@brianc.3607 not really. The zebra zoo is where you end up if you mix the perfect amount of pain killers with the right amount of Xanax. When you feel the magical flush in your tummy, you have no entered the zebra zoo. Zebra zoo in, zebra zoo out.
@@justinlove7185 well I don't think that is necessarily relevant here since he isn't very good looking..? Unless you mean stage antics, in which case that is part of showmanship, although his stage presence is a bit uncomfortable imo but that is taste. Ultimately it is more to do with people just accepting any piece they are told is good as good, without using their ears. I mean, just listen to those bends, painful to hear...
Pull the stick out from your bum and maybe you will enjoy it! :) Not every solo has to be exemplary of godly technical skill... there is such a thing as style and preference yknow? If everyone played to your expectations how boring things would be no? What happened to the idea of expressing yourself. I like his bends :)
Finest guitar skills on planet earth, nailed it with his technicity and soulful playing. I'm an expert 92+ years guitare technicist , played with the cream of the hobby, I know my stuff.
Going out and having a good time will do that for you 😁 Many of these people aren’t making big bucks for small shows, and a small, more intimate, audience will cut the artists some slack for that.
If you only enjoy artist if their “chops” pass some kind of muster that must be pretty miserable. It’s reasonable to like music that isn’t technically difficult or epic compositions. BTW I don’t even like Mac demarco (don’t dislike him), couldn’t name a single song but I think that was a fairly good lead
@@onesixfive Some people need a little more in there music, sometimes listening to music with only "one speed" gets boring. Great music doesn't always have to have great chops, personally I think a cool song with some serious chops makes the music a bit more exciting. This video is kind of like reverse inspiration, his playing doesn't inspire me to play because it's good it inspires me to play because I know there's many ways to make this sound better.
What are you talking about? Musical chops (musicality) is the ONLY thing that matters in music. Through this solo, Mac is showing excellent musicality. This solo to me is just perfect in any sense, he is playing the right notes with the right timing, in the most soulful way. And this is not coming from a fanboy, just from a passionate (25 years) guitar player. I just discovered him a few days ago
