This is the most interesting video of yours I’ve seen. First, black looks fantastic on you! Then, the way you did your eyes - it’s fantastic with the black. I like that the blush is light. I went to the Mac store prior to this video.I usually wear NC 30 or NC25. They matched me with NC 20. So the colors are darker than your usual shade. I have been loving it so far. I have been searching for videos on this foundation. Thank you for reviewing it .❤❤️❤️

I've been waiting for your review of this foundation! I've been obsessed with this one, and even may purchase a backup which I never do with foundations. For what it's worth I bet you would need to go two shades lighter than 15W in this one. I'm 13W and pretty solidly light neutral. 😊

Yay! I was so excited to see this review tonight! You’re right, the shade is too dark for you. What a bummer! But it does look nice. I think I may give it a try if I can find the right shade. Loved seeing more of Ziva at the end. Love her so much! Question. Have you tried Julep eyeshadows? I love them, especially the shimmers. The Smokey Gray shimmer brightens these tired eyes in a flash. Primer is a must when using their eyeshadows though. MAC painterly or Milani! Take care!

Thank you so much for continuing to swatch other foundations during your reviews it is so helpful. This foundation is beautiful but the shades are so off. I usually use NW20 and with this foundation I had to go to NW10 and it’s maybe a tad too light but the next up I still felt was too dark but the foundation is beautiful.

same here with this shade. I have always been NW20 but in this foundation, it was several shades too dark and more orange on me. When I did a chat with Mac, she recommended an NC shade for me, which confused me even more.

Thanks Shelly for the review of this foundation, I was waiting for your review. This particular foundation tends to be way more dark from your normal shades. I had taken a sample from the store before committing to the full size and it was way too dark from my normal (NC30) and took a sample of (NC25) which is also a sort of orange-ish and now I don’t know which one to buy. Therefore I shall pass on it because it is flipping 51 €, but the finish is just heavenly. Take care you too and have a great day ahead.❤

I have super fair cool toned skin, and the Sephora Collection Colorful Blush in the shade Second Chance works pretty well for me as contour. For a liquid option, I really love the e.l.f. Halo Glow Contour wand in Fair/Light. I absolutely love your channel by the way, you're one of the very few people that I trust with foundation reviews.

I'm the same skin tone as you. I got a sample of this in NW13 and it's also quite dark compared to other MAC foundations in the same colour. If I was purchasing the full size, I would have to go even lighter than NW13.

I have a similar suggestion for Nyx Taupe. I got the newer “So Taupe” and didn’t like it. I found the LA Girl Just Blushing in “Just Because,” and I like it even better. It has a very slight mauve undertone. I got mine from Amazon. 👍🏻

I finally figured out what I wanted to say about the sophisticated look. With that look it’s as if a whole new, very different person emerges - I’d say leaning more to the Scorpio power. You said you’re generally soft and wanted to look a little tougher - well, this is the way to do it. Just wear black. And do that makeup look. That will do it!

Hi Shelley I love the face and body and as I am ghostly pale wear it in shade C1. The shades of this one worry me being so dark and multiple reviews have complained about the shade’s being totally off. I will go to the counter and try to get colour matched on this one, plus a sample to make sure it doesn’t oxidise further. I’m hoping it is a slightly higher coverage version of the F&B tbh. My bottle of F&B is almost finished (around five sixths done) and it’s a Winter favourite which isn’t far off here in Scotland. We’re having 12 inches of snow right now in the mountains fell yesterday so the skiers are happy. Best wishes x

I would go and see the foundation in person before you try to get another shade- could very well be that this bottle was the last one of the prior shade being bottled, or the first one of the next shade being bottled and so the label does not match properly... in spite of the shade being off, it truly does look beautiful on you... smooches to MissZiva!

Hi Shelley, I really like those colors on your eyes, also the blush and highlighter is really pretty on you but I will have to be honest that shade of Mac is too dark I would definitely wear that as you summer shade but for now thru Winter you need a lighter shade unless you wear the makeup all the way down your neck front and back but other than that it is a beautiful foundation on you (just get a different shade). I am light skinned but I am neutral in shades, but that shade would be dark on me too. I think your makeup look today is just Beautiful and I really like how your hair is today it really makes you look good and black is also beautiful on you too. Great Video! I went to Ulta the other day and finally grabbed this foundation in a lighter shade. I think NW13 will work for me in this one. I need to swatch them side by side and get it up on Instagram. I kept the darker NW15 - I'm sure I'll self tan for a week someday and be able to use it! lol

I need a “best blow nose foundations”! Love the review. Back on RU-vid after a couple of years because I escaped the k12 teaching world and am now in instructional design, so I way behind, but it’s so lovely to see your videos. The NARS is one of my all time favorites :) I'd say the quality is equal - NARS is maybe a smidge more coverage and a smidge more toward a dewy finish.

I was just looking at this online and thought the shades looked way dark. I'm usually NW25, but the model online looked about 2-3 shades darker than me.... The NW20 and NW22 looked like they might be too dark (they even looked dark on the models they chose). I thought I might be going crazy or something, but remembered you had just put out this video, and it definitely confirms that the shades are off. The shade comparison chart also said I'd be the same as always, and what's the point of even having it if it's not accurate?

I've always included a MAC swatch in my swatches because they've always been so consistent and so many people know what their shade is in MAC! It's really a bummer on this one. I just think of all the people that bought the wrong shade after relying on that consistency (and like me, how many won't return it?)

I'm glad they're working! I get early access to some of the things RU-vid is testing on their shopping platform and I really like the new placement and the option to add timestamps to the products. Sometimes it's glitchy but it'll get better as they roll it out I think.

This is now my favourite foundation -even with the testing on animals issue. I’ve been interested to see your thoughts. You and I share the same skin tone and normally the same match in colour for all foundations. I had heard that the shades were darker. The MAC website in Australia matched me at NW5 😮. I’m normally an NW15 girl too. Bought it, way too dark as expected. Took it back and swapped it for NW11 which is perfect for me but I don’t tan. Wasn’t able to test NW13, so can’t report on the colour. But I’m very, very happy with NW11 and now have my holy grail. I have the Nars Light Reflecting-I’m meh on it. Love your vids. Love Ziva.

It's sounding like I'm going to be NW10-11-ish. That's such a bummer. I have a couple other products in NW13 and they're a smidge light for me, so this one is really off by a bunch. MAC foundations work so well for me that I will probably go figure out what shade I actually am and buy it...

Not sure what shade you wear in the Nars Light Reflecting, (I wear Mont Blanc - which is too dark in their other foundations, but perfect in this one!), but I tried a sample of the NW10 and I think it's a perfect fit! I am trying to decide between this one and the Hourglass Ambient Light foundation. I think this one may be winning.

You are the one who got me onto Makeup Forever Reboot a couple years ago. I’ve used it ever since. I like a light to medium foundation coverage, with a little healthy glow, for normal/dry combination skin. Which do you prefer Nars light reflecting foundation, Makeup Forever Reboot or Haus foundation? I truly value your opinion Shelly. Please let me know thank you so much. 😊💖

I would say all 3 are similar enough that if you have one you don't need the others! I wear all 3 regularly (the NARS most often last summer and the Haus most often this summer) but they're really all 3 quite similar and quite good!

The Nars Light Reflecting and Guerlain Terracotta are my 2 all time favorites year round - but when I'm super peely I go with MAC Studio Radiance (the plastic bottle one, or its predecessor Face & Body) or Kosas Tinted Face Oil.

Of ones we can buy in the US, Purito Daily Go-To is probably my number 1. But most of the time I am wearing European formulas that I pick up when I'm in Ireland in the summer, because their actives are much better than what's made in the US. Currently I'm using the No7 Future Renew SPF (which is not available in the US because we haven't approved new sunscreen actives in decades, and the only one with even recent approval is an ingredient that has been available for 20 years in Europe).

I think Mac now mentions on the site that this one foundation runs darker than others. I usually wear NC15 and with this one I got NC12, and I could honestly have gone even a bit lighter. But other than that, it’s beautiful!

Their chart comparing Studio Fix Fluid and this one say NW15 is the same in both, and sadly it is not :(

This foundation runs darker than the studio fix. I’m a nc15 in studio fix and a nc10 in studio radiance. It’s lovely, even on my oily skin.

Whoa that’s dark!!!! Lol! I just tried the Numbuzin #4 Collagen Pudding serum today it’s great!!!! 73% collagen my face is nice and plumped out🤣🤣🤣 with my HaruHaru Wonder Sunscreen looks incredible!!!! It looks like I slept for a week and drank a gallon of water I love it!!! 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍

Question for you. Do you think you will be trying Polite Society More Than a Pretty Face Skin-Caring Foundation? From reviews I’ve watched and comments I’ve read on Ulta, it sounds pretty good. Sounds like they run a bit warm so I think you and I might need to consider a cool shade. The mascara is also popular, and on their site they have a holiday eye palette with a hilarious name! The colors look beautiful!

Last year I bought a new Studio sculpt or whatever it is called in NW15 and the shade was exactly like the NW15 in this new product. Of course, I did t use it until 2-3 months after purchasing so I couldn’t exchange it. What’s up, MAC?

No when we have mature skin, its ok to take à shade darker. That help show less texture (katie moyer and michelle spieler said that and i try it and i agree) vs lighter one.. you look.good

Actually Nisha at Sugar Puff and Fluff recently did a review of this foundation. She was also really disappointed in how off the shades were. Strange thing for Mac to do.

Happened to me too. I'm normally Nc10. When I bought it, it was way too dark. I looked and noticed they had a new shade that was lighter. It was nc5. When I tried it, it was far too light. Can't wear this foundation, because there is no shade that matches me. Really annoying because I always know my color match in Mac. I don't know why they went so horribly wrong

Howwwww is that an NW15?! That shade scares me, because I'm an NC13. But dang the finish is gorgeous! And your eye look is aMAZing--that Merit shadow under the Denona shimmer, perfection.

It's sounding like from people that shade match to me that I will probably be NW10 or NW11 in this one (which is a few shades off - I have some other NW13s that are a smidge too light for me, so if this one can go all the way down to 10 for me, yowza). So I'd probably start looking at NC10 if I were you!

I am so close to giving it up finding my shade. Looks like NW15 is going to be too dark again. The ones I have tried NC12, NC14.5 and NC16 have all been too dark. And I am not even the palest of pales
