In Ontario the Glendro 12 is $80 Cad or $62 US, the Mac 12 is $150 Cad or $118 US. So much for that argument in Canada :)

Oh, I was hoping you would come out with a favourite. Oh well, for me, GD 12 takes the title. Doesn't hurt that it is significantly cheaper! Thanks for sharing

I've had samples of both but never a full bottle. The Glendronach 12 was in a joint tasting along with the 15 and 18. I thought it was pretty solid and a good start to the core range. I can't remember much about the Macallan. Anyway - thanks for this interesting review. I should probably pick up a bottle of either someday.

I think glendro beats them on all other standard bottles but the 12 Sherry mac just seemed a bit richer.

We compared the 18s in our whisky club. Much like the 12's the Macallan is the better dram but Glendronach is much better value.

Declining quality and rising prices want me to swear off Macallan, but there’s tasting notes in it that I can’t find with any other distillery that I really like. Both great pours here. Glendro is the value one, especially at the 18 year level.

I’ve never purchased a Macallan due to the extreme price premium I sense attached to the brand. I’ve bought two bottles of Glendronach, however, as while they have gone up in price (maybe down in quality too) in recent years... but they at least still offer excellent value to experience. Macallan would have to be a world beater for the premium I see charged near me.

Great review as usual Erik. I like them both as well but for $30-35 more I can get the GlenDro 15 ... which is a far better value imho 😃

Glendro 12 here for $43 and the 15 $75-ish. Mac 12 is $70-ish. The Glendro 15 is the way to go for the price and what you get or even the new Glenmo 12 Malaga for $70. The new Glenallechie 12 that is heavier sherried is around $60. So many heavy sherried malts for under $75

Here in Europe, I saw the Glendronach for 31 euros and normally cost around 40. The Macallan sherry oak is normally on 70 euros and never saw it under 60 euros. So I have never tried the Macallan and I don't know if I ever will as the Macallan 12 Double Cask left me unimpressed.

Macallan 12 at 40% here in Brazil... Still good, but the GlenDronach wipes the floor with it.

Crazy coincidence. I drank the glendronach 12 followed by the Macallan 12 yesterday! And to say the glendronach wipes the floor with it was a little harsh. They’re actually quite similar.

In Poland Macallan 12 Sherry Oak is around 430 PLN, Glendronach 12 - 170 Glendronach 15 - 280. I always wanted to try it but just cannot justify its bullshit price.

Depending on where you live in US, GD is available for as low as $50/bottle and as high as $65. The McC 12 is $90 to $99 everywhere. The McC is not $30-$40 better than the GD, if at all! Why would you spend that much money just to say you drink McC? Sorry GD for me everytime!

Seeing similar prices. Macallan is significantly more expensive, and for that reason I avoid it.
