That's because your bird does not trust you. You are probably not patient enough to develop a bond between you and your bird, or you're being too aggressive and straight up scaring your bird.
Not to spoil the fun, but this parrot is actually horny and showing mating behavior because he's rubbing under the wings. Thats an erogenous zone for them.
Bird fact: bird’s feet are human equivalent to our hands. Birds actually flap and fly with their ‘’legs/feet’! Sorry for being that type of annoying person, but I always thought that fact is interesting!
@@silkorsilkie Well, I’ve read Scientific studies based on bone structure-that’s what they say, that the wings evolved from kegs/feet and that they stand on ‘hands’.
@@sonofhibbs4425 um... pretty sure they evolved from dinosaurs and didn't suddenly swap their fore- and hindlimbs. Although their feet may have evolved in a way that allowed them to not only grab branches but also food while their arms were at some point useless for that task.

I've always wanted a bird like this, but at my age now, it's not a good idea. If left untrained, that beak can break off a broomstick. What a joy it must be to have this kind of relationship with one of these birds.
It's not encouraged to stroke your birds wings or anywhere that is not their head, it can very likely turn into hormonal (sexual) behavior from the bird.
@@69SalterStreet actually the head is the safest place to pet, it's seen as a friendly gesture. Parrots cannot preen their own heads, so in the wild they would let other flock members preen their heads for them. But normally only their mates are allowed to touch their wings or any other part of their body, with the exception of the feet.
Finally, someone with sense. All these people are gushing about how cute it is and all I can do is cringe at a bird who is extremely horny lifting its wings and butt.
This parrot is actually showing a regurgitating behavior, which is a mating thing. That's because this guy is rubbing its body, which is never recommended to do because it causes a hormonal reaction.
You shouldn't pet the bird below the neck, it thinks it's going to mate with you and will eventually get hormonally frustrated when it can't. You can tell it wants to mate because it has its tail feathers lifted up.
I don't own a bird, but I heard that you should only pet their heads. Back, tail, and under-wing petting triggers a hormonal response that triggers reproductive behaviour.
This just shows how much of a bond you have, ultimate trust for your giant parakeet to show himself in his most vulnerable state. Absolutely heart melting.

Feeding into the behaviors of hormonal birds can cause them to get frustrated and pluck their own feathers. Caring about your birds health doesn't make you a weirdo, avoiding learning important facts probably makes a dumbass though.
Please read this comment if you care about your bird. Only pet her/his head, nowhere else. The reason fr this is that if you pet anywhere else, mostly under the wings, chest, and near the tail, you are encouraging sexual behaviour with your bird which gets him/her sexualy frustrated and nippy, and it will end up in you rehoming the poor thing.
She really is a sweetheart...considering the breed can snap a finger. Little cuddle and coo sounds! I've A cockatoo the same. Loved to sleep between my arm and body. Always cuddles! Birds are so much more than people know!

It’s nice to give your macaw a “luxury life” like with a big cage and endless cuddles which is obviously okay, but you also need your macaw to be independent. They need to have obstacles in their everyday lives just like out in the wild. Teaches them to be more confident and more independent.
Nobody is telling that you shouldn't pet it under the wings lol By petting it under the wings,the tail wing and neck and back,your parrot simply think you are it's mate!The reason for it is that parrot couples (Lovebirds haha) are doing that with each other feathers in the wild too. Please do not do that :/
Joojo Draws It also causes territorial issues and your birds mental health will be affect because it will get “stressed/frustrated” when you can’t “deliver” and by that I mean lay eggs 😂 It is bad for the birds mental health though and I advise you only pet your birds around their head and neck.
Peer Kristijan No, males don’t lay eggs. They get stressed though when they realize that you can’t. They see you as their mate and not their companion. Females get stressed when they realize that the eggs aren’t fertile, parrots can lay eggs without the help of a male.( like chicken eggs) the eggs just wont hatch into babies. It drains your female parrot of her energy and vitamins in her body every time she lays a batch of eggs and they can start plucking from stress. It’s really unhealthy to have a hormonal relationship with your parrot, it’s not good for their mental health, and all this gets triggered by petting your parrot in the wrong places (under the wings, tail, back)
This video is really nice, I have never see. A macaw this calm and snugly before. I prefer smaller birds because I’m too scared of macaw’s bite capacity to slice fingers like butter in summer. The level of trust to have your hand inside their mouth like that, amazing job raising this pretty bird.
While I would not advise stroking the undercarradge,tail area or under the wings of a bird (as that elicits hormonal signals that you don't want)...a loving stroke of the head,neck and chest is greatly beloved by these birds...as you can tell by the content of the bird in the video.
You have an amazing bond with her! Total trust. Having your finger in her beak, and she is so passive and chilled. The eyes convey everything. Very impressive
Not hating but you need to understand this is super super bad for your macaw as most parrots will become hormonal and definitely at this time of the year seen as though its summer I recommended sticking to petting his head and not his body as this will sexually frustrate your beautiful macaw and make him begin plucking which is very unhealthy for macaws stick to petting under the neck and head avoid the chest area and wings petting those areas will make your macaw think you are his mate -logan

The owner stroking the bird down her back and beneath the wings is mäting behavior so this poor bird thinks the owner wants to mäţê with her. The reason the bird is cuddling the owner isn't because she loves them, it's because she thinks they're trying to māťě with her. owww, why did you clip the wings, don't do that!? The bird will not thank you for it? Think of it this way, how would you feel if someone removed your knees to prevent them from bending? You can still get around, but you won't be happy about that, right? I know this example is not one of the best but since we don't have wings and birds wings are a way of transportation, it only makes sense to make that comparison.
@@hitmontop16 It is a widespread misconception that a bird will fly away the moment you release it. I understand the worry of a bird flying away, but you got to remember that just like any animal, you got to train it. You can check out some channels here on youtube that do outdoor training for birds like macaws; bird tricks are among my favourites.
@@back-gardencritters9819 I have seen some more recent videos from this channel. It seems like the wing feathers are fully grown out though I'm not sure if they keep clipping them... But yeah, it depends here, some birds are very tame, and this one looks very young, so perhaps it just got used to it.
@@hitmontop16 You don't take them outside like dogs when they aren't trained and common sense let you close the windows when they fly in your home. I can somewhat wrap my head around clipping the wings of livestock but pets - that's unfair to the bird.
Even if the macaw was my best friend I wouldn’t dare putting my finger in their mouth because their bites can just rip off your finger like it’s nothing
