Macbeth is something that you can never escape . So many poets and writers after Shakespeare used images from Macbeth consciously and unconsciously that you will keep revisiting the pages of Macbeth. Happy to make you feel drawn towards this text.

It just struck me that she might *specifically* be referring to Boswellia sacra, which is what frankincense is usually made from. That plant is native to Arabia. Frankincense would both tie into the themes of Christian holiness and how the Macbeths signify their opposite. It's not just that she can smell blood that isn't there, it's that she has transgressed so far that her sense of sinfulness has driven her beyond all hope of redemption. (To answer your earlier question, I'm 47. I decided a few months ago to dive headlong into Eliot exegesis, and the Google app directed me to your article on The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, which directed me to your channel. Sure, I studied this play 30 years ago, but it wasn't until recently that I had the life experience to understand what Shakespeare was trying to say).

Thank you so much ma'am for this detailed and clear analysis. Ma'am aside from the fact that Macbeth was a misogynistic man who believed his wife should remain fixed in the domestic role prescribed to women in society after he got the help he needed from her, what can be the other reasons he deprived her from his company? At first I thought it must be because she manipulated him to commit murders which pricked his conscience but then later realized it is not so because he killed people quite comfortably on his own without her guidance. She was an asset as his advisor and could make him more powerful then was it not very foolish on his part to distance himself from her? So I am trying to think of other reasons why he took such a decision. Can you please help me?

Ma'am Macbeth is more an antagonist than a protagonist. Shakespeare has tried his level best to portray the fact that it was all predestined and lady Macbeth instigating him continuesly. But the question arises that everyone is born to suffer. The world is (asashvat dukhalaya- Bhagvat geeta)Then why should Macbeth be marked as the victim of his situation and destiny. Whatever he did was wilfully done. Would be more than grateful if you answer 🙏

I do not honestly believe that Shakespeare wanted to show Macbeth's fate as predestined or Lady M as instigator. He rather gave us so many hints to show that it was Macbeth's choice that he fell and his wife was only effective as an instigator because he chose to do these things. Tell me, did lady m ask him to kill Macduff's wife and child? It was all Macbeth's doing and Shakespeare actually goes against the Greek concept of Fate.

Mam, what is the significance of the comparison between lady m. and the general women regarding the body in 13:50 to 14:05 ?
@NibblePop
@NibblePop 3 года назад
Not general woman, i said "gentle woman", that is, the maid or attending woman of the scene. She would not have the beauty of lady Macbeth if she had to have her heart

@@NibblePop Mam sorry but I'm getting confused about whose body, whose beauty, the comparison and of course the equivocal words of the gentle woman ! Please make me understand with clear concept.
@NibblePop
@NibblePop 3 года назад
@@smitarahaman8430 you see, lady Macbeth was the queen. So naturally everyone should want to be like her, and be beautiful and royal like her. But the gentlewoman knew that lady Macbeth was a very heartbroken woman with dark secrets eating her from inside. That's why she says that even if she was offered to be a queen like lady Macbeth (beautiful, rich and dignified ), she will not accept the offer because she does not want to have a heart like lady Macbeth. In short, the maid feels that her own life is better than lady Macbeth's because she has no dark sorrows like lady M

Mam, why does the poet Shakespeare writes(Lady) Macbeth and (Lady) Macduff.Why does the poet uses "Lady" When he talks about the wife of Macbeth and Macduff?? He could use "their name" or "the wife of Macbeth, the wife of Macduff ".But why he doesn't use these word?? Plz say mam
@NibblePop
@NibblePop 3 года назад
It was customary to address married woman of high class as "Lady" followed by her husband's name. Just like we use the expression Mrs now.
