I have the MBA M2 base model and it's more than enough to what I do. The most intensive thing I do is the very occasional imovie editing. But for browsing, document works, pdf reading, student works it's excellent. Digging the new design, battery life, the new screen, magsafe, macOS and integration to iOS. 🙂 Plus the base model is even pricier in most countries outside the US with all the tax and exchange rates. 🥲 Nice video and looking good! 👍🏻😊
@@bodenbuckingham9638 as a biochemistry student, I recommend the M1 macbook air with 16gb unified memory for the best value. You will absolutely have to search for science reports a lot, so the 8gb would lag sometimes. Hope this help✌🏻
I love your reviews because its daily life usage and mainly editing, i edit weddings and my 2010 with new ssd laptops stresses too much and im reviewing possible andidates for being my new one
Thank you so much for creating a video that actually addresses questions students and consumers care about. Everyone talks about the specs and not much else, whilst you actually explained how it will effect the average student in their needs and expectations ❤️
Thank you for all the clarifications that it is a great device ,I dream of it a lot , but its price is expensive for me, I hope to get it even if it is used.🙂 💻
Owning the base model is ok but far as longevity it’s not a good investment.. With the 8gb of ram.. the laptop will show its age after the 3rd year of owning.. (due to updates and muti tasking)I Recommend upgrading to 16 gb of ram for future proofing..
I got the m2 mba 16gb ram and 256gb storage refurbished for 1250$ give or take and honestly, in that case it was a steal for me and I was not gonna spend the extra 300$ for a refurbished mbp especially when those 300$ translate to a lot in my country’s currency. Overall it’s very nice I love it very much!
Still torn if I should get MBA M1 16gb or M2 8gb. I only do office stuff, excel, word, acrobat, dropbox, software for work like slack, zoiper time tracker and i do not store documents on my laptop. Does this suit my needs?
Had the same dilemma, i also do coding and a bit of video editing in the end i went base model M2 and for what I do it smashes it. Xcode compiles might be a bit slower than the upgrades but for me that’s time to have a well earned brew. I got mine for £1k which means the money I saved on not going for upgrades or a pro means I can look at another base model in 3 years should I be tempted by whatever new shiny comes along…
@@J-GregChannel absolutely no issue at all! I’m a med student so I mainly use it for opening a lot of pdfs, watching RU-vid and just browsing the web in general. It doesnt heat up or slow down. And my god the battery life is amazinnnngggggg. It went on about 4-5 days before I had to charge it again.I come from an intel MacBook Pro 2017.That piece of shit heated up while doing the most simplest of simple tasks. So safe to say this has been a huge upgrade! So go for it bro
@@MultiRextreme sounds good.. I'm indeed going to use it for something more demanding but seeing that people are editing video in it makes me think that I should be OK with it.
@@J-GregChannel The problem is, these RU-vidrs are making people confused because they review their laptops from their perspective...which is not the case for %90 of the people
@@sangar197 is not BUT you can still use their perspective to know if it's a good fit or not for yours. If theirs is more "demanding" than yours and they can get along just fine you should also be able to do so.
Honestly the internal memory “HD Drive” 256GB, is not a big deal because you can buy an portable ssd for a fraction of the cost if you buy it internal.
A lot of days passed but still i cannot decide yet which model would be the best for me. Until i saw this video on youtube. thx bro. so smooth explanation. Loves from Turkiye.
May I ask how it’s been holding up, I am planning on purchasing a base model one because its cheaper online (nearly the same price as the M1 air 😳) considering it and was wondering how it’s holding up for you 😁
for 99 percent of the people out there the base model is more than enough. ordered mine yesterday. Friday arrival. gonna replace my 2015 MacBook Pro which still works fine but started to show its age.
I just ordered the base model 30 minutes ago! And I also used to have a 2015 MacBook Pro😂😂 the difference is that my pro is very fuc*ed up😅 recently I couldn’t even use it for more than 30-45 minutes before it starts heating up and slowing down significantly. Very excited for the Air M2.. I believe mine is arriving Sunday
@@Tabiii quick update. sold my MacBook Pro for £250 and got a message from Dpd its gonna get delivered today. I hope you will like your new machine. im sure I will mine :-)
@@danielpeti3885 hello friend! I just received my M2 and I absolutely love it. I’m setting it up and updating. Good deal on the Pro! I’ll try to sell mine soon. Oh and also, what color did u get? I got the midnight and it is astonishing! Apple really knows how to do it
@@Tabiii got the midnight too. I don’t care about the fingerprints at all :-) the laptop is a huge step up from the 2015. So silent and it’s just works well. I’m a very light user. Mainly using excel word outlook notes notion. No video editing etc. I hope u will enjoy your new machine for many years. I’m glad u r happy with it.
@@masstendo8288 i can upgrade one thing ram or ssd, I really don’t thing i need power so I wanted to upgrade ssd, but what do u think ?? Should I upgrade ram or ssd??
So I’m just starting my RU-vid channel and I want to get the m2 mba. Videos are 1080p and 4k 10-20 mins. What would be the best spec ? I’m not trying to break the bank because I’m just starting off I was thinking 8/10/8/512 or 8/8/8/512 or 8/8/16/512 ? All on Final Cut Pro. 😊
So I was thinking of getting the base model mainly for school but I will be editing using iMovie and will be playing some video games on it but not a lot since I have a PC, I have the iPhone 13 mini with 256gb and I’ve only used 58.5gb of it so I think the base model will be enough for me
@@JohnWick-tb1qq the issue with the 256gb storage on the m2 though is it is twice as slow at reading and writing data as the 512gb due to only having one memory thing
the only thing i have a problem with is the slow ssd speeds, 8gb of ram, & 60hz on the base model. for $1,200 you can build a pretty serious gaming pc or buy a high-end laptop. there’s no excuse for a $1,200 laptop to be poorly optimized, have minimal specs (apart from the chip), and still have a 60hz display. I can get over it w my iphone 14 plus bc I don’t need 120hz on my phone, but that’s unacceptable on a computer edit: I did still buy it though. it was time to upgrade from my mid-2013 air
120hz display on a laptop is not a requirement. No one is gaming on a MBA, and the OS scrolling or Safari scrolling is not going to be all that noticeable, especially if you consider that 120hz uses significantly more power than a 60hz refresh rate.
Hey bro I'm planning to buy a new macbook air m2 Then can we download crack softwares like adobe photoshop illustrator in it??? If yes the base model would be okay?? For like freelancing n all graphic designing stuff!
Respect on the video with the editing. I only have a issue on your grammar. It was distracting to the points you were trying to make. I mean no disrespect to you sir and hope this comment finds you some perspective.
