One of my favorite games as a kid. I had a very interesting experience while playing this. I definitely do not recommend this game for kids. Yet, I appreciate that I did play it. I noted they weren't any "Good Heroes" in this game. All the heroes in this game seemed very "bad" to some extent. Not bad, but certainly not standard heroes. Overall I think the game was a good experience and I really enjoyed the story with the books. This game is a gem in of itself, not for the gameplay, but for the background story.
I would say Ragnar is ambiguously good, as he did in fact use the power of the Mace, for a noble cause though. While I wouldn't put her on the same level as Takeshi or Xiao Long, Koyasha is closer to them than Ragnar, in my opinion.
Feeling the power of the Mace, he starts to fulfil his destiny. He turns on his father and proclaims himself to be the King of Assassins. He usurps the throne of Shiraq because he made a pact with Asmodeus. Al Rashid is a cruel tyrant and is hated by his people. He must resist any attempt to be assassinated. it turns out that Namira is the lost princess of Tulwara. Her family were killed by Khalid using the power of the Mace. Al-Rashid captures her, and through hypnosis, makes her his slave and concubine. She lives out her final days dancing for him. She suffers humiliation at his hands due to the perverted nature of what she does. Basically, He kills his father; Proclaims himself King of Assassins because of his pact with Asmodeus; Captures the daughter of one of the Kings that Khalid kills with the Mace; Makes her his slave and mistress through the power of hypnosis; In other words, Namira becomes a sex slave.
I loved to keep pushing buttons after Asmodeus was defeated to keep heating the characters screaming! Sometimes they even bugged aftewards and didn't get the mace!
i hear so many reviewers pass this game off as a ""BUTTON MASHER""... you cannot enjoy any MIDWAY fighting game without learning the fighting engine and combo.system... THIS game is criminally underrated. This game is worth learning and is fun as hell if ur up for learning ow to play it.... WAR GODS HOWEVER IS UNPLAYABLE... no good whatsoever
Loved this game when I was younger, it is what got me into Fighting games mainly games like Soul Calibur and Dead or Alive, and to this day, on Soul Calibur games with custom chracters I actually make all if not most Mace Chracters mainly my favorites.
@DarkMace2011 I've only ever figured out that when you hit the desert twist projectile, you can do a flying kick. Just more alternatives as follow ups. I definitely did get the faster background music before but tat was on emulation for me.
Very nicely done. Great work on the combos and the desert twist projectile to the uppercut move. The background music seemed to be in a hurry. Funny to hear that.
How did you put mod graphics? I'?m a huge fan of MACE and miss it. Your mod is beautiful, so, why you did not share this? I like to play on MAME and N64 Project/1964.
