I agree. Javelins should be removed from most low tier units.

I think they should also reduce the number of javelins that certain units carry as well as the damage done. I'm pretty sure Roman and Celtic/Germanic warriors had 1-2 javelins/pillas at most before they used their swords so it would be realistic.

I mean, just look at levy freemen their even useful when they die bec5they waste ammo and blunt charge and have javies to hurt better, more expensive units.

I think we can keep the javelins, but make them deal less damage. Give peltasts 2 more ammo and better stats so they can become the light inf they were meant to be

Exactly. I don't see any logical rebutals to all those arguments. Macedon isn't a powerfaction, but it defnitely is strong, having most tools.

I can't speak multiplayer because I do not play multiplayer. However I have always had the impression Macedon is much better in campaign than they are multiplayer. I think it has more to do with cost and cost effectiveness, and less to do with how powerful their units can be in combat.

@@marcus3457 It has a lot to do with how the AI runs directly into the front of pikes

@@patrickcharzin3062 I was thinking more about multiplayer. And there are other units that can be used to deal with the AI, but I totally agree the AI's response to pikes makes them beasts in campaign. That said, the derpiness and immobility of pikes, as well as their weakness to javelins and skirmish fire in general, makes them a bit of a nightmare to try to use successfully in multiplayer.

No cost-effective cheap infantry, their elites lose to other elites, thorax swords suck for the most part in this game, and pikes suck unless fighting AI. They do have good cav and ranged but their cav isn't the best compared to other elite cav. They do have one of the best mid-tier shock cav but it doesn't justify them in any way. Basically, they almost always get outclassed in every way bc they are just not cost-effective. The Lusitani player in this battle was rlly bad and it was still closer than it should have been.

you got to admit that the game starts when the age of philip and alexander ends. combat evolved after them. and the two were exceptional generals

@@arndbrack2339 Absolutely, you're right, but they were still the dominant power in Greece at the time this game is set and a major powerhouse. They defeated Sparta twice in the years after Alexander's death and they were still feared for good reason by the rest of Greece.

Yeah, they're a bit too fragile to stick it in with the rest of the heavy infantry and not killy enough to stick it in with shock infantry either. A bit too difficult to use at higher levels I think

Imagine not, I used to take only royal peltasts into multiplayer and win lol! (My opponents varied in skill, I probably couldnt do it now haha)

they are not bad in single player campaign, but if you put them in multiplayer games, you will understand why most people say they are bad and sometimes as the worst faction in the game.

@@TheBikeOnTheMoon they have peltasts, tarantine cav, shock cavalry , thureos spears , melee cavalry, thorax swordsmen,cretan archers etc they are far from the worst bro

for multiplayer, lots of other factions simply outclass it, its a solid faction but not great compared to others.

Man that was a splendid use of the Royal Peltasts! I always get anxious when picking elite units out of fear i wont use them good enough. You did a perfect job

idk if you are aware of this but try not using "use the whip" ability too soon, because it will exhaust your units very early and they will lose half of their melee attack because of it, wait until the royal peltasts are tired or exhausted to temporarily refresh their stamina and get full melee attack back plus some melee damage and attack.

@@TheBikeOnTheMoon Yes. I know, but sometimes you just need something dead and dead now. Worth it if you can free up the unit to go dogpile something else.
