Thank you WDR for keeping the Big Band tradition alive. So many good big bands have folded because it is so expensive to pay salaries to large numbers of musicians.
I'm finally leaving a comment. Man, I love this band for so many reasons. Energy. And the way you play in the Basie, laid-back style is amazing. Power. Listening through this for probably the 20th time now.
My very first 33rpm as I was child was Ray Charles and the Realets...It opened my mind for this great music. I discovered Maceo Parker at least 20 years ago and today the fabulous WDR. Jazz is still the most beautiful music.
Watching, listening on my tablet/ear buds in the wee hours. Will most surely blast this thru my TV and audio system when everyone's up. Thanks for uploading.
Sorry, the market for authentic jazz is not what it once was in the U.S.A. And just consider the travel expense. Thanks, Europe, for keeping jazz alive! Loved the organ solos, by the way. Congratulations to Maceo and everybody involved, including the audience!
I don't agree. At 360p quality, I have a sufficient sound quality and good stereo image. Every instrument is perfectly clear, sax section reasonably panned on left side and trombones & trumpets on the right. Even the rodes organ plays nicely (I hope in stereo) with characteristic tremolo.
Great band, great performance, really good sound mixing. The video editing is ridicules. As a viewer why can't the editor just let me sit still and watch the show. Had to quit watching and just listen. well worth my time.
@@marksimmonsjr.4520 I have all maceo records since ''all the kings man'' (1970) and I seen him 24 times in France & Spain (first time in 1992 with the JB's + Parlament/Funkadelic). Maceo stops evolving in 2001. That's a fact.
