Why does Macgregor insist on using the same 80s music from their original 26 sailboat promo videos in a promo made in 2009 or 2010? On the other hand though, we all know how cool 80s music can be.
I have been watching these craft for some years now. Just waiting for my finances to catch up. Love the idea of the ballast, foam core and virtually unsinkable. The caravan idea is a bonus. Great first experience sail cruiser.
Folks had a 25' McGregor back in the day. While the exterior of the 26' looks like a yacht, it's funny how similar the cabin is. Though it's missing the funky 70s patchwork upholstery I knew. I wish they had not treated these as floating mini-RVs, but instead treated them like day sailing lounge craft. Add more comfy seating, don't worry about sleeping arrangements and dinette tables. Open up the cabin! These boats are too cramped and the air inside is too stifling for a family to sleep in. Trust me on that!
I have a 2008 for sale that has been taken out only 3 times ever and has 4 original hours run time. It is literally like new! You can see it posted for sale on FB marketplace in the Sacramento, CA area.

Hi. I want to go out and do some coastal fishing, but at the same time I want to learn how to sail. Is this in your opinion a good way to accomplish that? Thanks, and enjoy your day.
@@joeprimal2044 if you want to sail go to a school and do the coastal skipper course or something similar, you need to know and understand what can happen and how to deal with it it could save your life for such a simple course but it's up to you
While searching for a sailboat to buy 5 years ago, I went to the McGregor factory near Stuart, FL to see about a 26X but after talking to the daughter of the founder, Mrs. McGregor told me that production was halted temporarily. I needed a boat capable of living aboard, so the McGregor wasn't it. I think this boat would have sold better with a swing keel and less water ballast, for better pointing upwind. Great concept that failed to convince the sailing community. For lakes, it's awesome.

@@thrishulh9834 £18,750 but I had added some stuff myself, although very economically: 1. Raymarine autopilot below deck, with wireless controls. 2. Solar panel system and extra battery (3 in all) 3. AIS receiver, 4. Additional anchor. The autopilot was very useful single-handed!
